Dear Army.ca Members,

My name is Chadwick Wheeler and I am studying history to obtain a Master of Arts at Wilfrid Laurier University. I will be examining the roles of Canadians who fought in the Vietnam War as part of the American armed forces. The research project will attempt to answer a number of questions related to Canadians who crossed the border to fight with the American armed forces in Vietnam during the 1960s and 1970s.
If you or somebody you know would be interested in participating in an online email survey, phone interview, or oral interview, please let me know. This research project is less about the combat experiences and more focused on the process of enlistment, training, and life after returning from Vietnam. The questions will be organized into six overarching categories: demographics, enlistment process, training, life in the American armed forces, the Foreign Enlistment Act, and life after returning.
Confidentiality would be of utmost importance, and more details of how it will be maintained will be provided to potential participants. This project has received approval from the WLU Research Ethics Board under the tracking number REB#4064. I would love to have an opportunity to discuss this project with you further and any possible interest you or a Canadian Vietnam veteran you know may have. Please feel free to respond by email at [email protected] or call me anytime at 519-781-3305.

Thank you in advance for your help and consideration,

Chadwick Wheeler

An oral interview is one which is done in person by talking directly to each other. I'm guessing you may be referring to another context for the word "oral" and hence the evil smile?
