Seeking insight on trades

I'm looking at getting into the Canadian Forces.  I was originally thinking of Army Communication and Information Systems Specialist, but after speaking with a guy in a local Signals regiment who has been in the CF for a long long time, he imparted some wisdom that I'm taking to heart.
His recommendation was to go for Aerospace Telecommunications and Information Systems Technician in the Air Force instead.

Looking for more opinions & insight though.

Both on Army life vs Air Force life and the two jobs in comparison to each other.
The two jobs do seem very similar.

Anyone?

(I'm leaning towards F/T rather than P/T)

Don't let someone disgruntled with their trade steer you away. Read up on both and decide what job you really want to do. ACISS and ATIS are different animals.

He didn't seem disgruntled. He mentioned he'd been in Army, Navy, and Air Force over his career. His angle was: "You and I are not as young as the other guys. You'll like Air Force life better. I've done it all. Trust me."

Dependent on the ACISS sub occupation and posting. I was a Sig Op/ACISS(core) for awhile, and no part of my job AFAIK was similar to what ATIS do.

Out of all the ACISS sub occs and core, CST IMO is the most similar to ATIS Tech.
