Selection board

How exactly does selection board work? Is it that every eligible merit listed candidate is selected or is there a quota for each month? I know there are annual quotas for each trade but what about for each selection board?

I am 043 (combat engineer..) merit listed and the next selection board is Sept. 5th or 6th, what are my chances of actually being selected on that one or having to wait another month?

Merit listed June 22nd. Switched my first choice to Combat Engineer at the end of July.

Just a guess, but I would think that in any selection board they would select as many suitable candidates as possible until there are no spots remaining. I can't see a reason why they would stagger hiring throughout the year for a specific MOC if it can be done in one selection process.

Unless of course, it's to wait for more highly qualified applicants...

I was merit listed around June 22 also and I was selected for 043 on the July 18th board. Once you have been selected there is still no given timeline on when you will be offered a job. You will be offered a job, but it all depends when an offer is sent from CFHQ to your CFRC and then your RC will give you a call. I was told by my RC that BMQ is runs all year except for June and July and that BMQ start about every two weeks, so you would think that people who are selected would be placed in BMQ sooner than later. There is still no guarantee.

June, July?? Really..I'm hearing that there are no Octobter, November or December dates. WTF? Hope I can land a job in St Jean someday....half the year off..

To my knowledge,

there are two selection boards in Sept, two in Oct and two in November.

I've also read that there are Bmq's in Sept and Oct.  I'm not sure about Nov.

I have been told there are Bmq's in Dec, Jan and Feb.

hey, there's got to be room for us if there are six selction boards in the next three months.

we're all just feeling ancy because there was nothing going on in Aug.


at least, thats all I know.

Yes, that is what I'm hoping for. A September selection date. But then if they don't have BMQ dates in Oct, Nov or Dec then that means there will be a huge backlog. Maybe Jan, Feb even March before I leave to St Jean? I'm not sure if I could wait that long to be honest.

I know what you mean.  My workout schedule was going great when I thought it would be a one month wait.  As soon as someone said "January".  I gained ten pounds of laziness.

Hahah..actually for me it motivated me more to get into better shape. A couple months ago I thought I'd be in St Jean by Sept, Oct at the latest and I just got lazy and figured I wouldn't be too out of shape but now I have to workout every day.
