Must be a hot topic in the US...

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/6115476.stm

The head of a US evangelical body who quit
after being accused of paying for sex with a gay
prostitute has admitted he bought drugs.
(the Reverend Ted Haggard)

either
1) its true
or
2) the best way to slander him for political reasons

either way.. true or false.. his credibility is now shot
so the intent to destroy his has now been accomplished.

Well he has now admitted buying meth (luckily for all involved he threw it away, close call). And although he asked for a "massage" from a male prostitute nothing ever happened (another close one).

The sanctimonious mealy-mouths keep falling like dominoes down South, why can't we have this intrigue and sleaze up here? O wait, we do.

in the tv interview he says
"I've never slept with a man in denver"

I'm thinking... ok.. have you slept with a man in any other place???

I know that sounds picky.. but it's a word game I've seen played often
to avoid "technically" lying.

Evidently the male prostitute failed a polygraph.

Test administrator John Kresnik said the results "did show deception" but that Jones was physically and mentally exhausted. Kresnik said he would like to take the test again after Jones had slept and eaten, which could provide more trustworthy results.

In any event the minister is done. For some strange reason forgiveness doesnt apply to a minister.

It's not done yet, I'm sure in the next several days things will surface to excuse the good Rev. He has a substance problem, he was abused, or he does what he does because he was locked in the closet with a spider when he was eight. No shortage of excuses available.

I'm not trying to ping on him but it's pretty standard for these folks to turn into the "victim" when they get exposed. When he was initially exposed why didn't he just 'fess up and say "yep, I had sex with a gay man and I was smoking meth. I have problems". It would certainly be a lot easier to forgive someone who would finally take responsibility for their actions. But he probably won't.

p.s. Even if they could find the spider now what good would it do now?

Warren Zevon wrote a song about things to do in Denver when you're dead.  I wonder if anyone has written a song about things to do in Denver when you're gay?

Polygraphs are unreliable (in spite of their widespread use by Maury Pauvich).  They may be accurate say 90% of the time, but check it out.  Suppose you had 1000 soldiers in a unit, and none of them took any drugs on the weekend.  When asked by polygraph, 100 soldiers will come out as "liars", when in fact they did nothing wrong.

I say "who cares" about this latest in the string of hypocrites that surface during elections in the states.

More gay sex accusations for disgraced pastor Haggard, The Associated Press, Fri. Jan. 23 2009 8:52 PM ET

DENVER -- Disgraced evangelical leader Ted Haggard's former church says
the gay sex scandal that caused his downfall extends to a young male church
volunteer.

The volunteer, who has not been named, has reported having a sexual relationship
with Haggard - a revelation that comes as Haggard tries to repair his public image.

Brady Boyd succeeded Haggard as senior pastor of the 10,000-member New Life
Church in Colorado Springs. He says the man came forward to church officials in
late 2006 shortly after a Denver male prostitute claimed to have had a three-year
cash-for-sex relationship with Haggard.

Boyd said an overwhelming pool of evidence points to an inappropriate, consensual
sexual relationship. He says it went on for a long period of time, and wasn't a one-
time act.
