Often my weekends are consumed at Tangalooma on Moreton Island, the next island over to me, some 20km via water. North Stradbroke Island is below Moreton, maybe 20km SE of Bribie Island (where I live).

We snorkel, SCUBA dive, and swim, not only there, but around here, along with jet skiing etc, but the past few weeks are different, the main shipping lane between the islands and the mainland has been stalked by numerous White Pointers, AKA white Death, Great White. So I won't be going in the water for a while, ha!

Although this link is from 27 Oct, these beasts are back in the news yesterday and today, but I can't find a link from today.  Just have a look at those huge bites on that male White Pointer!

EDITs to add Chief Brody's quote (from Jaws) to Quint "You're gonna need a bigger boat".

I've heard that we are also visited by sharks in Vancouver Island's water. Does Anyone have seen any? (Not talking about the MARS officer  ;)) Tofino for example?

One time,  I was windsurfing on the Georgia Straight, only a seal was following me, wondering what the heck I was doing there! Then someone told me that where you find seal, you might find sharks not too far looking for a lunch!
