Even a bomb squad, seriously?

Daily Mail

Sikh Broncos fans are told by security that they can't go to the game 'because of their turbans' - then get stopped by the bomb squad on the way out

Even though Verinder Malhi explained to a guard that his religion prohibited him and his friends from removing their headgear, the men were told the only way they were going to see the Broncos-Chargers game was to do as they were told.

Keeping calm, the four friends were eventually allowed inside Qualcomm Stadium still wearing their turbans, but their humiliation was not-yet complete.

'Everybody is kind of confusing us with the turbans, because what you see on TV is mostly the terrorists, they wear turbans,' said Malhi.

'But our turbans is different, our faith is different, our beliefs are different.'

Sikhism is a religion predominatly practiced in India's Punjab region and is linked to Hinduism but has no relation to Islam.
'It's bad, I mean, this is embarrassing for me,' Malhi told 10 News .

'We are Americans at the end of the day. And we are not supposed to be afraid of fellow Americans.'

(...SNIPPED)

I don't know why anyone would be shocked that this happened.
Disappointed or pissed off maybe but shocked no.

I don't believe "secondary inspections of religious headgear" are permitted either,

June 16 2015
Ottawa has abruptly reversed a new airport screening policy, decried by Sikhs as discriminatory, that required secondary inspection of religious headgear.

New Turban Screening Procedure at Canadian Airports Discriminatory: WSO
Ottawa (June 16, 2015):  The World Sikh Organization of Canada is deeply concerned by recent changes made to the Canadian Air Transport Security Agency's (CATSA) procedure for screening religious headgear, which came into effect on April 15, 2015. CATSA procedures now require the mandatory secondary security screening of turbans and other religious headgear.
