I'm starting to learn these ranks.  As far as I can tell, in the Army, as an NCM, the highest level of rank you can get is Chief Warrant Officer? Specifically talking about Infantry here. So the only ones who can earn the rank as a Major, Colonel or General are those that went to RMC(or anyone else with a degree) and became Officers?  Is that correct or am I mistaken? After CWO, are you able to earn higher ranks? And does it mean that you are no longer NCM, if you are CWO, MWO, or WO?

In general, how long do you think it would take to get to CWO?

All this, and more, can be revealed by a trip to your local recruiting centre. The pers there specialize in answering questions of this kind.

Correct (and not just infantry, all trades are like this)

No. UNLESS you apply to become an officer. I can't imagine many CWOs do that though.

It takes a long time and a lot of leadership, knowledge and skill. Most don't progress this far regardless of their length of service.

This might be useful,

and I'm sure there are many, many other threads on this site discussing similar topics. Even google will provide you with a good idea about the differences of Officers and NCMs and NCOs. Try a search and see what happens.

You would be surprised, lately every time I turn around I hear about a CWO or MWO that is now a Capt.

Forgive him/her.  (S)He is young and doesn't have the TI yet.        ;D

This is excellent advice:
