Some positive news stories in the papers

I'm not much on assigning authority to the Ottawa Sun on reporting anything, let alone articles regarding the miitary but today, I really liked their Editoral. It was positive, encouraging, smashed a negative stereotype or two about CF member intelligence and character.

The other Editoral is about Why We Remember and I particularly was touched with the phrase: "Our debt to them is eternal. It does not end when the last soldier who fought in World War I, or World War II or in Korea, or in our current mission in Afghanistan, dies many years from now."

Nice to see that article regarding the families. It's not just the members who sacrifice.

Shame on Diane Collier:

Collier is passionate about that last and is credited with making a reality Petawawa's unique and beautiful "Home Fires Park," with its monument, pathways, memorial boulders and spectacular view over the Ottawa River and the forested hills beyond. It opened in 1998, when Gov. Gen. Romeo LeBlanc, dedicating it, spoke of "the sacrifices that the families who keep the home fires burning make, sacrifices that continue to benefit the cause of peace in our country and around the world."

This park was the brain child of a young autistic man who was dying of Cancer, and wanted to create a park to remember and honour the mothers and families who remained behind, as he and his mother had when his father often went on Tour.  He came up with the idea, the design and did much of the leg work to create this park.  He was grievously insulted when the park was dedicated and Diane Collier walked away with most of the kudos.  She is an evil lady under all those layers of niceness she shows to the public.  

Randy Chester is the person she stole the limelight from.  He will never forgive her.

The Ottawa Sun column is encouraging!  I recall recently being told that soldiers like myself weren't smart enough to understand the 'three block war' so NGOs should be brought in to replace.  Deep breath, self control....
