Teen son of Canadian Consul General arrested after brother killed in drug deal

http://www.miamiherald.com/news/local/crime/article17061476.html

Authorities have arrested the 15-year-old son of the Canadian Consul General in Miami after they say he was involved in a marijuana deal that ended in gunfire and claimed the life of his older brother and another man.
...
The teens are the sons of Roxanne Dubé, who only recently assumed the role of consul general in Miami. A former Fulbright scholar, she has extensive diplomatic experience, having worked as an aide in Parliament and as the ambassador to Zimbabwe.

News reports claim that the brothers had pulled similar robberies in Canada and the USA.

The deceased brother also appears to have had a twitter feed at: https://twitter.com/jeanwaba

Last updated in 2013 when he would have been 15 years old, the picture appears to show him clutching two bottles of liquor.  Several of his tweets discuss marijuana use.

At least down there, life means life. If found guilty, I hope they send him up forever, or save the US taxpayer money by sticking a needle in him. His brother is dead, he's in jail and his mothers career is likely shot to hell. Selfish, ignorant little bastards.

I think the parents tended not to deal with the other side of the two brothers....telling in the mother's response to her son's death....she didn't....they were her little darlings who could do no wrong....

This is the second woman from DFAIT in the last six months to be involved by association in a shooting case involving their child.  In both cases, the women are separated from their foreign born spouses.  These instances are starting to raise alarm bells in my mind as to problems at DFAIT.

I just glanced at that kids twitter feed. What a piece of shit.  We need to stop protecting people like this.

You mean there is another similar case??

He may be referring to the murder of Corporal Cirillo. Not quite the same thing, but let's wait for his response.

I sent you a PM, Retired AF Guy, but as OS replied with the same answer I gave you, it is out in the open.  Killer's mother was from/formerly from DFAIT, who had married a man from Libya.

Nope, the US doesn't execute juvenile offenders anymore. Minimum age 18 at time of the offense. It was a supreme court decision in 2005. And because the case is not a potential death penalty case, the Government of Canada doesn't have to go down the request for clemency route.

Yes, you are absolutely right. I had completely forgotten about that. Thanks.
