TORONTO (CP) - Canadian troops in Afghanistan can expect a little extra holiday cheer under the Christmas tree this season.

Or rather, holiday beer. Employees at Steam Whistle Brewery have decided to donate one week's worth of staff beer rations to soldiers stationed in Afghanistan. The company has vowed to match those donations.

While alcohol is not readily available in the Muslim country, troops are allowed to have liquor on the base three times during the year, including Christmas.

The Toronto brewery gift will include limited edition Steam Whistle pilsner holiday 12-packs wrapped in festive colours and topped with a gift tag.

Nice touch, at least there is companies doing this sort of thing, now we need to get Crown Royal to do the same.

Didn't Moosehead do something like this a while back too?

Probably somewhere between "not enough" and "not much." Besides, don't we have a limit of two beers (well, two drinks) per day?

I thought it was a dry operation.....

yup, right up until the end of Op Medusa (just after I left...  :()

But after talking to the guy's from my platoon who are still over there, it's still pretty dry... the only beer they've had was the one they got after Medusa... all the donated beer has gone to the troops who are in KAF to get it.

Oh well... It's still pretty awsome that these beer companies are donating some suds... good on 'em.

Uh oh.. I only have one more occasion left before my 3 runs out. Good on them indeed for sending over some brew.
