I have a bit of an odd question.  First of all I am currently waiting for my medical file to return from Borden and then I will be waiting until spring for the selection board.  Now if I get into Basic....I know that the training will be tough.  My question is do the training officers yell at you a lot?  Because in the past I've found myself laughing at the absolute worst times...and I know that laughing at the training officer wouldnt exactly make basic any easier.  It's not like I'm trying to be rude, but if theres a guy in front of me, foaming at the mouth and screaming at me..I am guessing I will have a hard time keeping a straight face.  Anyways I don't know if that made sense, but if anyones been to training and has had this problem could they please let me know, what happens if you do laugh and how not too?  Personal stories welcome.                                                      CHEERS  :salute:

I can see what you're saying as I used to be somewhat like this myself, but trust me you don't want to find out the hard way. If you do laugh while they're yelling at you, you'll quickly realize not to do it again once they get through with you.

LOL! I really did laugh when I read this question.

I do that all the time, laugh at the most imapproriate moments. (If anyone I know reads this board, they'll know who I am now!)

Anyway, during basic, well, many many (many) pushups later I'm still not rid of it, the instructors usually aren't too pleased but sometimes you're too focused to even think of anything funny. Sometimes.

There are those other times when the instructors will say funny things on purpose while jacking people up (ie. commenting on white *toothpaste* stains on people's bath towels comes to mind) and then jack people up for laughing...but that's just part of the game.

In any case, don't worry. A sense of humour is one of the best things to have during basic. Otherwise, you'll just drive yourself nuts.

Better get some botox injections if you can't control it

lol yup I can relate to this, when people yell at me I find it funny and will start laughing... I'll just have to try and control it.

I have learned the hard way about laughing at the person who is yelling at you.

They hit you  :(

I actually laughed at an instructor in BMQ. I regretted it, but to be honest...it was funny! Sure they're gonna laugh at you, punish you..put you on weapons picket for the next week..etc. But in the end, you cans till have that chuckle with your pals over a beer aboutt he time you laughed at an instructor during inspection....

Corporal punishment is not allowed in the CF. Please clarify and substantiate your statement.

Well I haven't started BMQ yet but from previous experiences in my life that has happened outside of the military.

Clear as mud?

Ahhh, I get it. Your giving your opinion on what life would be like in the CF without ever having experienced it.

I admit sometimes it is hard not to laugh but if the instructor is yelling directly at you, you better not be laughing because everybody is gonna pay for that... And I always hated those you can't retain there laugh.

LOL  Thanks for the feedback guys.  Some pretty funny personal stories out there it sounds like.  Anyways if I get in I'll try not to get anyone in trouble.....keyword being "try".  Anyways thanks again.
