Okay, so I'm a bit stuck...
I applied for school next year as my back-up, and I got accepted to my program in Kingston, ON. Now, this is about 5 hours away from me, meaning I am going to be living in Residence if I go. Those of you who have gone away for school, you understand what I mean when I say it is expensive.

I accepted the offer in mid-March because at the time I had not heard anything from the Recruiting Center, and also applied to Res, which I was also accepted to. Beginning of April rolled around, and I had my acceptance for both so I confirmed my res spot and sent in my paperwork for the year as well as paid my first payment.

Just last Friday, I contacted the RC to see what was going on, and at the same time got booked in for my CFAT which is coming up on May 3rd.

Now, I am unsure of what to do, if I should carry out my plans for more schooling, or if should wait for my processing, and put school on hold a bit? I don't want to pay for all my schooling then just leave in the middle of the year (Res, you pay for the year), and lose out on the amount I've paid.

Has anyone ever been in this situation!? any help is greatly appreciated!

Carry on with the plans for school.  I'm sure you've seen on here, even with the processing done, there's no guarantee of getting in right away.

As many others would say, don't put your life hold. If I were you, I would start my schooling in Kingston. What exactly did you apply for though?

. . . or not at all.  Not to be a downer, but in my opinion you should be realistic here: lots of people apply to the CF, not all get in.

If I were you, I would stay and school, maybe lose a bit of cash if/when I get into the CF.  There's no guarantee you'll get in the first time you apply, and even if you do, it could be a long while.

If you do end up getting in, all you lose is what you paid.  If you don't get in, you lose a year of your life and a shot at school.

I totally agree with everyone's responses so far. If you applied online, it states in bold letters, "DO NOT QUIT YOUR JOB OR  SCHOOL" etc.  Many on this site, myself included, have been processed and waiting a year or longer. Just getting a call to do your CFAT is merely one small step of many. Carry on with your life as it was, and hope for the best. But don't give up what you have for something that may not happen for a long time, or at all.

It's been said enough, but take care of your schooling first- it can only help you. If you do, what's the worst case scenario? You get your dream job with the CF and have to eat a bit of wasted money for school that year. In the grand scheme of things, not so bad.
