Hey,
I‘ve got a buddy in the SVC BT telling me that you can pick up surplus ILTIS(‘s) in AB for something like $500. Is this true? I imagine there will be a lot on the market when the transition to the GM light-duty vehicle is made...

Funny thing, I was talking to a fellow from Wainright who takes care of that, peicing together working units from scavenged parts. if they do go up they go through auction through Crown Assets Disposal and they go for quite a bit more than $500 dollars

Don‘t Iltis‘ cost something like $45,000 CAD new? Seems excessive for a little bit of tin, canvas, and a 60HP motor. Thank you Bombardier and the Canadian Government for this costly inhouse military contracting practice... ;-)

I‘ve always liked the Iltis, but then I‘ve never driven one or used it the field. If I had the money I would buy one from this site, as they sell the supplus German ones. Which are in great shape as they were storage for the war that never happened.

The thing about buying an iltis is that in ontario atleast you can‘t get drive them on the road. They are off road vehicles only so if you want to bring your iltis offroading you have to bring it with a trailer. It‘s treated like a 4 wheeler.

From the aforementioned site:

A NOTE TO OUR CANADIAN CUSTOMERS
The Volkswagen Iltis that we are importing from Germany are 100% street legal in all of Canada, including Ontario where the Bombardier Iltis can not be registered
