I finished my app late February, finished my Physical, CFAT and Medical mid-April and did my interview mid-May. The only requirement left for me at that point were getting my Grade 10 transcripts verifying that I had completed the required six Grade 10 courses and got a certain number of credits (I can't remember the number). Thing is I was doing Grade 10 at the time which makes it kind of difficult to get transcripts for it.. So I spoke to my Vice Principle and said to him "On the 18th (Day we finish classes) will my transcripts be available to be printed out so I can head down to CFRC and hand them in?" he told me "No, but I can however write a signed, officiated note saying that you have completed the requirements" so I said "That'll do". Just to double check I called up CFRC and asked if that would be acceptable and I was told very confidently that it would be. So happy with that I waited till the 18th. The 18th rolled round and the VP wasn't there that day.. No biggie. I'll get it on Monday. I go in on Monday pick up the note... The note was very thorough. It said my name, verification that I have completed the core classes which are Math, Science, Socials and English and my total amount of completed classes and credits and he got it printed on a letterhead and he signed it.. Very official looking. So I hop on the bus and get down to CFRC go up to the counter and explain to the person the situation. She reads the note and walks off. Ten minutes later someone comes to tell me (This is the real zinger right here) "The person who would usually verify certain cases like this is on holiday right now and won't be back till Thursday". That crushed me. All that was left to do was put this note in my file and forward it to the Armory where I would be kitted up, sworn in and sent off the next week.

Anyway after that long story my question... How long would it take to be kitted up and sworn in? If the note is verified and and my file FTU'd on Thursday would I have enough time to get sworn in etc and to be sent off Monday the following week?

Thanks

I highly recommend you get the transcripts.  Theres no reason why they can't give them to you

when I was going through the recuiting process my transcripts weren't stamped "offical copy" so the people at CFRC didn't execpt them

so yeah get the transcripts and save your self the trouble of going back and forth

haha sorry I didn't I bother to read the whole thing sorry.

Yep, sounds like a Recruting Center story alright. Took me a year to get through the system.

I heard about a guy who joined the reserves and lived bout 5 mins from the recruiting center. Took him 9 months. 2 years later he joined the British Royal Marines.. Took him 6 months.  Anyway do you fine folks know if I would be able to get kitted up and sworn in before being shipped out if it's all good on Thurs?

I don't know about this summer. Most Reserve units are on stand down for the summer for summer training. I leave for BMQ/SQ in less then two weeks at Chilliwack. My guess if there is a BMQ/SQ course in the fall thats the one you'll be on. But there's always that chance I may be wrong.

Good luck, for I was in your shoes last year.

The guy who runs recruiting down at the unit said if I could get kitted up and sworn in I'd be off for the summer. I just need to know how long that usually takes.

Well in that case couple hours. You can just forget that last post and good luck at basic (and soon you can drop the civilian title, sure felt great when I did).

Thanks mate.

I can't wait to add "PTE(R) Canadian Army" to my occupation tab in my MSN profile :D

I guess I am lucky.. it took me 2 months to get from application to being kitted up... I am suprised myself!

This thread is almost a year old and I know there are lots more similar ones out there.  Locked.
