Almost sounds like a DNS issue.

Down at the bottom you can override the display theme:




Click Default Style, or in your case, it probably says Navy.ca.

I'm on 'army green' but find all three colours have their issue. 'Army' is dark if I'm in bright light so I have to crank up the screen brightness; 'air force blue' often doesn't play well when posters use another font colour.

The site was brutal for me last night to point I just gave up. Ok today.

Yeah despite the many hours I have spent fiddling with colour palettes, it's still pretty eye-gouging at times... I usually only make things worse lol

Yes as well. In addition there are times when I try to open Smilies, there is a long wait with sometimes a fail. I've also had some posts where after a long wait my text disappeared although when I cam back to the same thread later it would reappear as an unposted submission.

Yes, to all plus sometimes the page I’m attempting to open will not load. Sometimes I get a window with a button to re-load, or I get a blank screen when I open the site from my favourites list.

Unfortunately server load has been rising above reasonable levels, and the server shuts down for a few mins to try to "cool down." It's been happening a fair bit. I'm looking into the cause, but there's no easy response to "lots of traffic."

The toss-up is to let the server keep running and get infuriatingly slow, or shut it down and let it recover, leading to sporadic outages. No good answers there, but I am looking into options.

Two quick updates:

1. The system overload/shutdown problem seems to be resolved, after some changes made last weekend we have been stable for a week now.

2. Apple made some changes to their email system, and if you had an @icloud, @MAC, @Me email address you may have gone without email from Army.ca last Thursday/Friday. The fix I put in Saturday morning seems to be holding but the missed emails won't be redelivered (Apple rejected them vs. deferring them).

Long story short, Google has ceased advertising payments due to "Dangerous or derogatory content" and "Obscene or profane language." I'm working through some options to try to get things back on track, looks like I kicked the ad machine into high gear lol. Ads are disabled for Subscribers (and now Donors as well). Others may see ads... I'll see if there's a balanced approach I can find.
