Finally, took me long enough.

I know some of you PM'd me some info and what not on help with the Math part of the aptitude test and they've been deleted I guess :( It'd be helpful if some of you can throw me some tips or tell me what 'kind' of math questions to expect like grade level or more in-depth.  :salute:

I know for sure that you can take the American military practice test questions at www.military.com or something like that. This test has questions on it that are the same as the ones on the Canadian test except they use different numbers and wording and such. It's worth looking into.

I just wrote the CFAT last week.  I was really nervous about it so I got a GED book from the library.  I focused mostly on how to deal with fractions and percentages.

Doing this really helped me during the math part of the exam.  Also the added practice of working on my times tables gave me a bunch of extra time during the exam because it saved me from figuring out simple math on my fingers.

I would recommend warming up your brain for the spacial part of the test.  The samples they give you are very easy but this is the part I had greatest difficulty with during the test.  Perhaps find some of types of questions on the internet? (google search is best)

Anyways besides that just get a good nights sleep, eat a good breakfast, avoid any foods you normally don't eat. (Drinking four cups of coffee won't help since the test takes an hour and they make you wait for awhile after the exam to fill out paper work... all of which can take a very long time if you have to use the bathroom really bad)

You'll do fine.  Don't sweat it too much.  Out six of us who wrote the exam only one of us had to change their MOC due to low scores... but he still passed.

Well I'm shooting for Infantry so it shouldn't be too bad lol.  But in all seriousness if it's like fractions and stuff thanks for the warning.  I have a GED book lieing around somewhere so yea, I'll start hitten that hard till the CFAT.

Just wrote my CFAT this morning, and all I can say is don't sweat.

1. Verbal section - Either you know the word or you don't

2. Shapes Section - Found this the most challenging due to the time.  Just make sure you pay attention to the shape and any patterns that are on it.....then it's just process of elimination

3. Problem Solving section - Know how to:
    - Add, subtract, multiply and divide frations
    - number sequence (i.e. 1, 3, 5, 7 etc)

I know this is what everyone is saying, but it really isn't that difficult of a test....its just the time that kills you.  Take it slow and make sure you fully read the question as they did have some trick ones on there.  Other than that make sure you hit the washroom before the test as it takes about 1 to 1.5 hrs with the instructions.

As Deaner always says "keep givin'er"

I'm not worried about the other parts, just math lol.  But thanks man.  Much appreciated :)

How close is the Military test to the RCMP test?  I did the RCMP RPAT and got flying colours on everything except math  failed by 4 points because of that.  Thinking about the Air Force.

Okay, had to wait and extra day to go in but I went down there today... awesome time.

Did my application and then while I was completeing I took it to the recruiter and the Recruiter is talken me like "Do you have any hobbies?   Yes.   Well write 'em down"   And then he goes to the mission guy that I got to know a little before getten told to get back to my application (I was doing both but I felt like I was in school lol).  Anyways he says "You too, it can be anything... reading, playing with dolls.   Yea I do... you do what, play with dolls?   Yea... no no I mean read" we nearly cried laughen there was like 5 of us down there.   Certainly made things better with the jokes and stuff.

But yea, after that I went upstairs to set the date of my CFAT and I didn't relize I'd be doing it so soon!   I hafto go in next Thursday at 1:30pm so I'm excited/scared cause that doesn't give me a lot of time to number crunch but I'll do my best and if I fail I can go back in 3 months so it's not thta bad.    :salute:

Thats good to hear that you are able to write the test so early after handing in your app! I had to wait about a month and a half to write mine after my app.

Dont sweat it, its fairly easy. I think the best advice is to try not to think to hard on the the questions. (as dumb as that might sound) Look at eatch question and whatever answer comes to mind right after reading it is usually the right one! And dont take to long on the questions because the time flys by when your writting it and the time they give you isnt much.  :D

They told me to expect the test to take about 3 hours all together so.  I thought the test was just an hour?  Aw well, more time the better in my book! hah  :dontpanic:
