Hey I got a question and i could not exactly find a post for it.. so i made my own.

I have six months before I can try apply for the army but what i wanna know is can I apply now and do my tests
which I hear is time consuming and then leave in six months which would be a bit later after all testing is done
so i dont waste massive time or do i have to do the tests then leave when they tell me

Why do you have "six months before I can try apply for the army"?

That factor will certainly influence the responses you receive.

I have to wait six months cuz im already in an appreniceship program doing carpentry for my level 1
and i have to wait for that to finish because money is already paid. Im trying to narrow it down between infantry or a trade but either way
its going to be with the CF if i can make it

Yes, you can start talking to the Recruiting Centre now. Let them know the end dates of your current program as that will determine your availability to accept an offer to start Basic Military Qualification (BMQ).  Depending on your trade selection, it could be that long (at least) before you get an offer anyway.  They will probably start your paperwork and testing now.

(FYI - The reason I asked the question I did was because there are other things that will gain you a 6-month delay in (re)applying, like admitting to certain drug use.)

Really eh.. that is really interesting to hear thanks for the info for sure asap I'm going to that recruitment center and see what we can work out
I'm not into the drugs especially if a joint would wreck my chances its not worth it at all.
thanks for the info I really appreciate it!!!

Well, from what I understand of your question, you want to know how you can speed the application process.

You can start with learning how to write a comprehensible sentence/paragraph - I'm not sure which your post purports to be.

Feel free to PM me when you learn how to communicate in written English.

Thanks for your PM - you certainly ARE able to articulate coherently - try it out here in public - it's amazing what results you get when people can understand your question.

As promised, here are a few links you may wish to pursue:

http://forums.army.ca/forums/threads/31044.0.html
http://forums.army.ca/forums/threads/54558.0.html
http://www.recruiting.forces.gc.ca/v3/Default.aspx?bhcp=1

The third in that list is most important to you.

You can surf around the internet all you want, you can talk to all the friends you have that "know someone who said"  - but until you walk into a recruiting office, or communicate directly with a recruiter (via email, phone, fax, whatever), you WILL NOT receive correct answers to your questions.

I applaud your current educational endeavors (I became a cabinet maker after my release), and I encourage you to pursue them to their logical conclusion (journeyman) - but if your heart lies in a career with the CF, then please contact a recruiter and find out how your current experience may "meld" with a CF requirement.

Good luck to you 18-and-ready - you came off to me (in PM) as a pretty together young fellow - project that same image to the world and it will be your oyster.

Roy

I agree that you need to talk with a recruiter or a military career counsellor about your options. You likely won't gain much by applying now if you aren't available to enrol for six months. I work in a CFRC and we are processing applicants in a week or two, sometimes less. There are time limits on keeping a file open, usually 3 months ,  so you don't gain anything by applying too early. Also some standards change and there are time limits on some tests i.e. Medical that could need to be redone. Drop in and chat by all means and get a plan together. You CFAT is good forever.

Hey,

Thanks alot Roy I checked those links out they all helped alot.

CFR FCS thank you also I was not aware about the 3 months situation, Sorry I haven't got all the abbreviations down yet what is CFAT?
I work and go to school so its hard for me to get to the center I'm thinking of just calling them when I have a moment available.
