I believe the Canadian Defence Force policy to stop the "Danger Pay" once a soldier leaves the war zone even he or she is wounded is right.

The issue is how to deliver this news to the wounded soldier and his or her family. The administrative officer must have utmost respect to the wounded soldier and his or her family and should wait until the appropriate time comes before releasing the news.

The policy also states that the soldier will continue to receive the "Danger Pay" for 25 days. So why hurried to give the news to the soldier's father.

Once the soldier is wounded, the "Danger Pay" will stop after 25 days and another compensation package will start as soon as possible.

As a U.S. Army Officer, I wonder do anyone ask another interesting question.

"Why did our Government, Canadian Government, the Conservative Government of Stephen Harper sent 2,200 soldiers to Afghanistan ?"

The Liberal did start the mission but Stephen Harper and his Government increase the troops to 2,200. Why not 2,300, why not 2,201, but only 2,200.

Any explanation ?  LOL

AAAAA

P.S. I did not start this thread, the Moderator split my comment from another thread about proper administrative procedure to inform  wounded soldiers about Danger Pay. Someone is very  manipulative saying this is a AAAAA Conspiracy.  But can you explain to me the co-incidence of 2,200 troops Canada contributed  is exactly one-tenth  the American contributed (22,000 troops)

Whats the point of your latter questions?

The point is Stephen Harper and our current Conservative Government :CD: "directly" take the order from the White House and President Bush.

The Liberal Government did not send more than 1,000 troops when they were in power.

Once Stephen Harper became the Prime Minister, his Conservative Government agrees to provide "proportional" amount of troop strength.

Currently, there are 22,000 American troops in Afghanistan, we as Canadian, are one-tenth of the American population. Isn't it odd our   Government (Conservative Government) sent exactly one-tenth of the American troops (22,000)  to Afghanistan.

Thanks

I think you are reading too much into things and seeing conspiracies where none exist....

I think you will find that the committment, under the Liberals, changed to 2200 when the Canadians took over Kandahar Province, where other Rotos were in the Kabul area. Correct me if I am wrong. Simply sizing the force to the task.

Interesting he/she gets challenged and he/she signs off....hmmmm do I detect a poser/wannabe?

The really neat thing about conspiracy theories is that if you question or deny them, it just means that "they've gotten to you, too".

I can actually confirm what AAAAA has said.

But Harper DID send those guys.  You see, here's how he did it.  First act as PM last Feb?  He got a time machine, that's right, a time machine, and he knitted about 2200 COMBAT troops out of the aether, replaced the lollipop brigade over in A'stan, replaced their rainbow coloured uniforms with CADPAT, injected his COMBAT troops with a dose of evil, and sent them on their merry way.

Well, that's what I think.  Tinfoil, anyone?

I have no problems with sending troops to Afghanstan, but sending  2,200 Canadian troops, exactly one tenth of American troops in Afghanstan seems odd.

We are in partnership with United States. We are friends of United States. But should we have to shed blood for our friends  in exactly proportional amount (?).

As today, there were 341 American died in Afghanstan, 40 Canadian died in Afghanstan. (Sept 8, 2006)

So proportionally, we, as Canadian shared a much heavier burden than the American.

We should be proud of our troops to carry a much heavier burden than our southern neighbor with higher death rate and I expect more Canadian troops may die due to road side bombs with ill equipped trucks.
