Yes I thought we all established this years ago? My hope is that the idea I proposed would achieve both. Neither very well, but that's better than literally nothing which is what I think the current plan provides.

There is only 1 thing that will appease the anti gunners, and it's absolutely no citizen owned firearms or reasonable replicas.

The only way to deal with a hungry bear that has decided to eat meat rather than berries and leafy stuff is to shoot it. And when that bear is a hungry male that has chased you into your house, you shoot it with your semi automatic rifle because reloading will get you killed. And if you don’t shoot it, and the bear goes down the street to the next house kids street hockey game, guess what happens.

I'm wondering if they're going to just going to declare the firearms on the list as prohibited, grandfather individual owners, and leave an indefinite voluntary "buyback" scheme in place to drop the costs to nearly nothing but also not admit defeat. They'll then claim they got the guns "off the streets" (which was always true) and walk away from the smoldering wreckage. Gun owners lose because they can't use their property, but the costs to the government drops significantly. It also gives then a "frozen issue" they can use against the Conservatives.

No, Poli will not accept that. And as sure as the sun will rise, some whack job in the future will use a grandfathered rifle to do something awful and the whole debate will start again. I’d rather see every other person armed and able to defend those around them because God knows we’ve got a lot of angry extremists walking around our country hoping to smite their enemies and the innocent.

The business buyback is on hold, the individual buyback pilot was a flop, collecting just over 10% of the projected guns.
We're 2 weeks away from December 6. The Liberals have been given their annual "shit or get off the pot" warning by Poli to implement the remaining parts of C-71 and C-21. The firearms marking regulations have been pushed back another year.
The SKS is up next for a ban with a possible exemption for indigenous hunters (which will piss off all the non-indigenous SKS owners) and there's still the handgun issue Poli wants finalized.
Poli now drives the bus on the firearms file in Public Safety with Nathalie Provost in Parliament. She's just biding her time until Gary A screws up enough to get punted and then she'll be in that seat.

Ukraine didn't want them. And, by the time the Liberals actually figure out how to collect our guns, that war will probably be over.
