The Great Gun Control Debate- 2.0

The PS minister today said that provinces that "disallow" their citizens from participating in the compensated confiscation (TM) program are hurting their citizens. He also stated that he expects compliance and that provinces will have to get on board as this is a Canada wide program.

There is a finite amount of funds available and those provinces that participate will, quite obviously, consume those funds first. So, if you live in AB or SK, you'll likely get nothing because you will have waited too long. Remember, too, that in QC there is a functioning firearms registry so the SQ already know who has what. I'd guess we will see high compliance in QC which will deplete the treasury quickly.

In other news, in response to an order paper question from London area CPC MP Andrew Lawton, the RCMP have released that there are 14 known and registered SKS's in Canada.

As much as I detest this whole program, it is being done under federal criminal law, to which all citizens and provincial governments are subject, whether they like it or not. It wouldn't take much for the Liberals to use legislative mechanism to force police co-operation. And, as we know, the Liberals are not above throwing money at a problem to make it go away. This is a key plank in the Liberal platform. Danielle Smith and Scott Moe's' legal posturing is only going to hurt AB/SK gun owners in the long run. They will still eventually lose their guns and be out-of-pocket to boot.

I'm actually surprised that Minister Anandasangaree still has his job. Give his previous missteps on this file, he has to make this work or risk being replaced by a more radical minister. Watch for an announcement about guns in the next few days leading up to December 6, and also watch to see who is standing in the wings waiting for Anandasangaree's chair to be made vacant.

I already knew from the moment this started that we are not getting compensated. Once you accept that, you can resist by doing nothing and then by doing everything slowly and in the most polite obstructive way possible.

Isnt it funny how the initial OIC stated compensation for the original firearms on the list. The follow lists stated no compensation. Here we are years later and now its first come first serve. How well of a plan is this if they cant even follow their own set plan.

From the start the whole plan was to make non-LPC supporters suffer, while bolstering failing LPC numbers in QC. It isn't about safety, and it isn't about a plan beyond that.

Now that they are on the hook for compensation and they are in a minority government, they are looking for ways to scare people into uncompensated compliance, or scare QC voters back into their fold.

I just did a ten second search of a single gun shop in Quebec that shows more than 20 SKS rifles currently in stock and for sale. Which does suggest that the Quebec firearms registry doesn’t have good comms with the RCMP.

They only need to be registered once sold by the business.

So QC has all the SKS?

I would rather hang on to my guns, in the hopes that some day in the future this is corrected, than surrender them to the Feds.

And I would be willing to forgo the meager offerings they would provide too.
The only way you'd be able to keep them would be to have them deactivated. If done properly, as per the guidelines, the process is irreversible.

HT, do you own a boat?

Here comes the other shoe. Compliment to CCFR.

Somehow, I don’t think this will be the "Final Report."

Public Safety Publishes Final Report by Secret Advisory Panel

Yesterday, Public Safety Canada released a statement and report written by an anonymous "panel of experts" that worked in secret to advise the government on further gun bans of currently available models. This is an assault on democracy in Canada.

In the report, the authors (who have not been disclosed publicly in any way), provide recommendations for which currently legal firearms should be banned next – not by the legislative process – but by more regulatory mechanisms like Orders in Council (OICs). This Liberal government is continuing the ten-year trend of leaving the true stakeholders out of all discussions, and leaving the democratic process out of their dictates when it comes to firearms. The CCFR was not consulted in any way throughout this secretive report creation process.
The level of abuse that Canadian firearm owners have endured both under Trudeau's Liberals, and now with clear continuity of form and function under the Carney Liberal government is unprecedented. This opaque mandate by Public Safety Canada is the latest in their sneaky, underhanded tactics to destroy civilian firearms ownership in Canada.
It is clear that the voices and opinions of lawful firearm owners are not valued or welcomed in the decision making process for the very laws and regulations that affect them directly. The Liberals continue their policy of excluding stakeholder groups and only including those who agree with their agenda.
The fact that they hide the composition of their so called "expert panel" and do nothing with proper legislation, demonstrates their utter disregard for the democratic process and total lack of respect for licenced firearms owners. It's not hard to guess who was likely included in this panel.
We recommend that you take the time to review the report and to make note of the so-called "gap list" of firearms that are likely to be made prohibited next. Continuing with their latest preoccupation with banning the SKS, they list other firearms that the "experts" believe you should not be able to own or use in Canada.
The broad categories listed in the report include:
  1. Semi-automatic shotguns with detachable magazines (includes bullpups)
  2. Semi-automatic military service firearms (Garand, SKS, etc.)
  3. Unique or unusual firearms (primarily 9mm SMGs)
The media is also largely continuing to ignore the open admission by Public Safety that the confiscation ("buyback") program is grossly underfunded when it comes to compensation for individuals. Some, like the CBC, are even continuing to report that the program is voluntary, despite that being demonstrably false.
You can watch our social media channels for any further developments related to this report.

The Report

Two people are out hunting together with identical SKSs. One is a first nations member, the other a rural Canadian farmer. In the eyes of Polysesuovient, one hunter is carrying a hunting rifle, the other an assault rifle.

Now, those same two people are hunting but they only have one rifle between them. Does it change classifications depending on who is holding it?
