The Hockey Gear Thread

We have an outdoor gear thread, why not a hockey gear thread?

I've been asking questions, privately, about sticks because I was going to purchase my first composite stick today. What are people's thoughts on them? I found myself a Sher Wood Feather Glass (wood) model with the Paul Coffey curve (an illegal one) and while I am happy (ignorant) enough to keep using wood I am also eyeing the compos. However, I don't want to break the bank...

I also got myself a new pair of skates. Easton Stealth 7's.

I have a few more things to get this year and some I'll wait for clearance sales to sort out. New pants, gloves, shin pads and possibly a visor as I've had a couple of close calls.

So get it going: bash the gear you hate - rave about the stuff you love.

Unfortunately I could not give the TV 5,000 mil points.

I have nothing against all the guys and gals who played sports at the sub-unit level very, very well

On the other hand, I hated a system where the "professional athletes" played hockey in the winter and fastball in the summer, and nary a uniform was to be seen. Full disclosure - I was a member of sports troop for track and field for a few weeks, but was able to escape to rejoin my troop for the final exercise on the brigade concentration. (And no, I didn't throw a race, nor did I get beat!)

Goalie here. Total gear freak so here goes!

Current setup:
Pads: Vaughn V3 35+2
Gloves: Vaughn V3
Pants: Mckenney 855 Pro
Armor: Mckenney 855 Pro
Jock: Eagle Junksaver 3000 (not the actual name )
Helmet: Sportmask T3
Skates: RBK 9k

My style is very hybrid and the vaughn stuff is an absolute dream to play in. Used to wear RBK but couldn't get used to the stiffness.

The RBK skates aren't bad. The air bladder system stopped working only a few weeks after buying them but otherwise they are excellent. The broken bladder might have something to do with the fact that these were one of the first pairs off the assembly line. These are great skates but I honest;y think I would be happier with Graf or Bauer.

The pants and armor were bought 6-7 years ago and I will honestly cry the day that I need to replace either.

Lastly the helmet. The only helmet I've ever owned that didn't break after 1-2 seasons of use. I regularly play with former/current nhl players and this thing has most definitely saved me from some major head trauma. Most deffinitely worth the $900.
