Political impacts of Ukraine war

Officially not happening. Release the tomahawks.

As commentators brighter than me have said, since "The Great Negotiator" seems to have made a concession ("Ok, Vlad, sorry about offering those Tomahawks") after the call from Putin, mission accomplished for USSR 2.0, so who needs a meeting anymore?

If you have 22 minutes to spare, this is worth listening to: NPR interviews a former CIA station boss in Moscow about how Putin appears to be able to play POTUS47. Tiny spoiler alert: he says Putin may know a lot of dirt/secrets about Trump to help him figure out how to deal with him, but he specifically stopped short of using the word "blackmail".
Still hoping Trump'll DO something different, like free up the Tomahawks, but maybe I'm naive/cynical - we'll see.

Fun though experiment. Even if there was to be a meeting in Hungary, how would Putin get there?

Ukraine, not happening.

Poland, member of the ICC

Romania, member of the ICC.

Trump and co are deeply unserious.

Well, one Trumps few "allies" in Europe has announced he'll be undermining him. Bold choice to pick a fight with Washington and the EU at the same time.

Rutte dropped some very good news today, NATO is now producing more ammunition than Russia. Things are going to get interesting when North Korea starts running low on the ancient stocks they've been dumping on Russia.

First on quantity, we already have state of the art systems, the best of the best. These give us an edge, and we will keep it sharp.
Which we need more and we need fast, and that means increasing production and shortening delivery times. We are already turning the tide on ammunition.
Until recently, Russia was producing more ammunition than all NATO Allies put together.

But not anymore. Across the Alliance, we are now opening dozens of new production lines and expanding existing ones. We are making more than we have done in decades. We need to build on this progress in other areas, from high end air defence and low-cost drone interceptors.

More news about the rUsSiA diktat to Ukraine.

The 28-point plan — first reported by Axios but followed by other media, including the Financial Times and Reuters, citing unnamed sources — allegedly contains proposals for Ukraine to concede territory in its eastern Donbas region to Russia, abandon certain categories of weaponry and reduce the size of its armed forces by 50%, among other conditions.

A 50% reduction in their Armed Forces and ‘abandon certain …… weaponry’ basically means that Ukraine will be turned into a Eunuch.

Might it be there’s a dirty devil quid pro qo here between the US and Russia? Venezuela is an ally of Putin. Perhaps the Russians will give that up if the US abandons Ukraine.
