I know a number of people who have deployed and brought along (or purchased in country) things such as sights, grips, bipods, etc.
When on Operation why not? Even if said attatchment only increases the members effectiveness by 0.001%.... That's still better right?
Plus persons can develop a preference of certain items through 6-12 months of workup followed by 6-12 months of operations. Lots of time to play with it.
Now how about on exercise or conventional ranges?
Should these said items be dismissed, should the CoC enforce not allowing them to be used?
Does it add a significant amount of liability... sure the buttstock you bought cost you $400, you used it overseas, you use it on a civilian weapon...but that screw came loose and you put a round where you should not have because the stock fell off.
What's everyone think?
Should weapon attatchments (and I purposely do not use the term modification) be allowed domestically/in training as well overseas? Should it be overseas only? should they be dismissed all together?
