Good day,
Does anybody know what the procedures are in order to Transfer from Regular Force into the Reserve Force.
And if so, does anybody know whether the military moves you and your family from the reg f location into the reserve force location. Let just say that they are in different provinces!
I would be please to if somebody could help me with that question.
Thanks

If your IE contract is over then the CF will meet it's obligation but, you don't get posted to a reserve unit as a reservist................... it don't work that way.

I know that you don't get posted to a reserve unit. I still have 2.5 years left on my contract and I was wondering whether I could get transfer to reg force. Or do I have to VR before I can join the reserve force?

Go and read the DOAD 5002-3 and you will find all the details.

:)

It is called a Component Transfer and your Release Section can help you in doing that.  It is advisable to have a Reserve Unit in mind and their approval to take you on, so that the Release Section can prepare the paperwork before you finish your Release.

If a member is doing a component transfer, is there actually a release involved?

Yes there is.  I have just started my own paperwork.  I release from the reserves on 13 Dec and enroll in the reg force on 14 Dec.  No break in service.

Just to add to the above.  If you are in doubt or have no Reserve Unit in mind when you Release, make sure that you are put on the SUPP LIST.  This will speed up you processing when you do find a Reserve Unit to join.  If you do not choose to go on the SUPP LIST, then all your docs are sent into the Archives in Tunney's Pasture and it will take forever to dig them out, greatly slowing down your enrollment in the CF should you rejoin as a Reservist or even as a Reg.

It is far easier to do your research and get the approval of a Reserve Unit to take you on strength before you Release, than not.  That way it becomes a simple matter of paperwork and a CT done at the Release Section.  It may even simplify your Release, in that you may not have to turn in all your kit, as you may be able to keep most of it in the Reserves, your Medical on Release will be used as your enrollment Medical for the Reserves, you may have a BPSO appointment and CFAT done prior to Release (Should you need it.), etc. all making for an easier and quicker transfer.

Again, don't forget about the SUPP LIST and the benefits it may give you if you don't transfer to the Reserves immediately, but want to keep some doors open for sometime in the future.

Hamburg-Jung - You can do a direct transfer from the Regular to the Reserve Force, paperwork will be completed by the release section during your final month or days (depending on where you are). You are entitled to a move and the military will complete a move on Release - if you are just finishing your first contract be it BE (Basic Engagement) or VIE (Varied Initial Engagement) and have less then 10 years service you are entitled to a move to place of enrolment OR any other place as long as costs do not exceed that to place of enrolment.  If you are finishing your IE (Intermediate Engagement) and have 20 years of service you have a move entitlement to an IPR (intended place of residence) anywhere in Canada.

Another point - IF a member is released medically (3A or 3B) with less than 10 years once again to place of Enrolment or place of similar distance with more than 10 years a move to anywhere in Canada.

That said, ensure you complete the final 2.5 years you have on your contract before transferring to the Reserves or you will loose any entitlement to a move.

Thanks for your help folks.
I might as well finish my contract first and then continue in a reserve unit. THX to all
