Isn’t it possible that the leaders of all three parties believe that they want to make Canada great again? I don’t feel that Justin should stay in power any longer. Both he and his caucus seem tired and horribly disconnected from the average Canadian. But are they in favour of making Canada inferior again? Frankly, I don’t like Poilievre either. But just because I don’t like someone’s ideas or actions doesn’t mean that they are necessarily doing so for ulterior reasons.
For example, Justin seems, in my opinion, to have a horribly naive assumption that if you let people in from different races, cultures and religions, then everyone will see the light and get along beautifully even though the world around them is bristling with violence and intolerance, with only the occasional admonition by our pretty boy leader to help society stay on course. He has also let China gain too much power over Canadians…mind you so have successive governments.
Over the years I have worked directly with numerous politicos, mainly those who were in the old PC party even though I never identified as a dyed-in-the-wool conservative. These included some cabinet ministers, MPs as well as top political advisors and strategists. I often disagreed with their views but never did I doubt that they believed in what they were doing as the best course of action. I guess what I’m trying to say is that most people wouldn’t do what they do if they felt they were doing the wrong thing. While I do feel that Canada is going to hell in a hand basket, I think the problem lies not so much in what one leader has done but how he has interpreted and dealt with the myriad of economic, political, social and military challenges facing us. Definitely not an easy task. Unless, of course, you want to see me elected as Prime Minister of Canada.
