Trudeau Popularity - or not (various polling, etc.)

I imagine it won’t change anything other than the premiums you are all paying.

I get the ‘intent’ is to provide more pension for us later, the cynic in me is saying its all to compensate for people living longer and not having paid enough into contributions well working to make up for the amount they are taking out.

That more pension later also doesn’t make up for the added cost today when many are struggling as is.
I thought the waitlists for healthcare was going to remedy that?

No, it was only the budget that was going to balance itself. Healthcare needs much much more help including analysis and support to resolve the health care provider egress away from Canada…

I was expressing that the waitlist will increase mortality rates in older Canadians, ensuring they don't use their quota of the system. The government wouldn't think that way would they?

And it turns out that Gen Z is the problem child once again. Sean Fraser’s remarks that the government should provide them with a home clinched that vote. With yesterdays disgusting UN antics, the LPC will pull in the religious votes they had lost over parental rights re: gender choice.
It’s all about dividing passively and in some cases actively, and it works for Trudeau all the time.

The quicker the Liberals get their majority the quicker western separation happens. It'll be better for everyone.

Certainly not for the older middle class tax mules, of course not… 😉

Not spending a lot of money on end-of-life care is a popular discussion/lecture topic. Governments are behaving like they just want the system to keep creaking along until the Boomer bulge is gone and the demographic age imbalance settles a little so that what little they want to spend is a bit closer to meeting the demand. The earliest Boomers are not quite into their '80s, so I'd guess that's still going to take 25 years to unwind. It's too bad Tommy Douglas isn't still with us to kick Jagmeet Singh's teeth in.

Someone should fill them in on government-provided homes in enlightened socialist countries like the Soviet Union, and the number of people who lived in some of them.

Everybody knows that most Canadians ignorantly choose not to learn from the miserable histories of others. In any event, housing starts are stalling, I believe this is now why Fraser himself is opining that immigration needs to be dialled back. Which is ironic because before housing in 2023, he was the immigration minister who caused that entire problem. Gen Z will still be homeless, and sadly priced out if the type of homes that they want.

Expedited approvals are useful if there's a bunch of crews sitting around waiting for approvals. That might be the case if private entrepreneurs haven't been reacting to long lead times by simply starting their planning earlier. I suppose the savvy ones have operated on the general idea that if the lead time is 12 months, they keep 12 months' worth of work in the pipeline and keep adding to the far end.

Are there mobs of unemployed building trades people waiting around?

There will be with LNGCanada wrapping up and Site C also nearing completion

Trudeau keeps on making friends
Nice play by the Federal Liberals to reneg on a pledge, then blame Doug Ford. Of course nothing untoward from then-Minister Mendicino…the gift that keeps giving.
