All true. But it seems worth pointing out that Trump’s whims have sugar-daddies. Lots of them. The massive new ballroom is being paid for by his grifty shakedowns extorted tribute corporate bribes private sector contributions.
The well-heeled donors of the Rich-and-Spineless Class imagine that their donations will buy them safety or influence. Some might even imagine that they were donating to a project of historic/civic improvement.
Instead, the enshittification of the White House will bear their names alongside Trump’s in the nation’s Hall of Shame.
CBS reported: “Lockheed Martin is among the companies that have pledged more than $10 million, according to one of the sources. Company officials declined to confirm the amount, but Jalen Drummond, vice president of corporate affairs at Lockheed Martin said in a statement: “Lockheed Martin is grateful for the opportunity to help bring the President’s vision to reality and make this addition to the People’s House, a powerful symbol of the American ideals we work to defend every day.” Other individuals have also pledged to contribute, including Blackstone Group CEO Stephen Schwarzman.
But the list of funders of Trump’s profane desecration of the White House is much longer. It includes:
- The Adelson Family Foundation
- Altria Group
- Amazon
- Apple
- Booz Allen Hamilton
- Caterpillar
- Coinbase Global
- Comcast
- Google (Alphabet),
- Hard Rock International
- HP
- Meta Platforms
- Micron Technology
- Microsoft
- NextEra Energy
- Palantir Technologies
- Reynolds American (R.J. Reynolds),
- Ripple
- T-Mobile US
- Tether,
- Union Pacific Railroad.
(Carrier Global Corp. committed an air conditioning system and YouTube contributed $22 million as part of a lawsuit settlement.)
Individuals reported as donors include: Stefan E. Brodie, Charles and Marissa Cascarilla, J. Pepe and Emilia Fanjul, Edward and Shari Glazer, Harold G. Hamm, the Betty Wold Johnson Foundation, Benjamin Leon Jr., Kelly Loeffler and Jeff Sprecher, The Lutnick Family, The Laura & Isaac Perlmutter Foundation, Stephen A. Schwarzman, Konstantin Sokolov, Paolo Tiramani, Cameron Winklevoss, and Tyler Winklevoss.
Shame on all of them.
