Trump administration 2024-2028

A post of mine re: Hesgeth was removed; my apologies.

Rephrasing: sufficiently significant credible concerns about Hesgeth’s conduct have been raised that he may not survive confirmation, and the incoming administration is probably assessing whether he is, in fact, a pick they want to remain committed to or whether they should switch up.

Reporting last night has Trump considering Ron DeSantis for the role instead:

DeSantis has both active and reserve military service as JAG counsel and deployed to Guantanamo and Iraq. He of course has considerable governmental experience.

Now just need to dump a few of his other choices.
Honestly prepare for the carousel like the last time he was in term. Trump dumping a cabinet pick is like me dumping the kids off at the pool. Do it once a day, twice if I ate Mexican.

Agree with his politics or not he is a significant upgrade to what is currently on offer.

If we discarded people because of adultery we wouldn't have a functioning society.
Only over certain laws. But their list of responsibilities in the US federal construct is much smaller than in Canadian federal construct.

Someone once put it to me. In Canada the federal government's responsibilities are clearly defined and in some cases limited. The provincial responsibilities are less clearly defined and every time a "new thing" comes up it ends up in the provinces lap. This is why the federal gov't keeps getting involved in deal with municipalities and social programs of various sorts. In the US its the opposite. The civil war follow on boxed in the states responsibilities and rights clearly while the US federal government keeps accumulating them.

Part of this might be that in Canada the federal government are cowards who don't use the full power (particularly financial) to put the provinces in their place*. Mainly because we have multiple provinces that vote province first (Quebec and Alberta in particular).

*if you haven't noticed I'm a strong federalist. lol

I really don’t care about adulterers. I take issue with those that profess being appalled by it yet get caught. The GOP being the party of traditional family values and all that…

Sexual assaulters and rapists however should be discarded. No sides of those two parties has a higher moral ground however and we can only judge individuals on that.

DJT is a serial adulterous individual. I guess he gets a “pardon” over that….

President Truman pledged he would never knowingly hire a man that had cheated on his wife. When he was asked why, he said, “You know, if a man will lie to his wife, he’ll lie to me. And if he’ll break his oath of marriage, he’ll break his oath of office.”

That same argument was used to flay a female B-52 pilot over lying about an affair. The argument was that she needed to be trusted with nuclear weapons, and she had broken the trust.

OFC this occurred at the same time that then President Clinton was busy lying about affairs…

Agreed on all points.

FWIW, adultery is still a UCMJ offense down here. It used to be a major disqualifying factor during polygraphs for TS+ positions, but in most positions, it’s no longer a disqualifying factor unless one tries to lie to work about it.

Hillary herself - reportedly - once put it, “He’s a hard dog to keep on the porch”...

I guess this is the month the media re-discovers it's adversarial role to the incoming president. Where were they the last four years?

Since the media has done so much lying it will be difficult to parse what is true and what is a smear campaign intending to hamstring the incoming administration.

Asleep like POTUS?

Dude, when you look at a lot of what P-E Trump is putting forth with nominations, the media doesn’t have to do much, as he opened the bottle of lighter fluid and struck a match.

Not simply asleep, it's corrupt to the core.

The treatment of Brett Kavanagh comes to mind. I don't have the energy to go through the long list of people on one side that were maligned by the media and compare it to the relatively non-existent list on the other side. Quite the opposite effect for the DNC side in fact, such as the 51 intelligence officials coming out in defence, Biden sharp-as-a-tack in his mental prime.... the list goes on and on and on. The abundance of malfeasance on this subject is staggering.

I don't understand how that kind of conduct can be given a pass or defended even when they hate the other guy.

As for Trump's nominees, seems he is appointing people to burn down certain establishments and re-build them. I think a lot of people voted for that wrecking ball and not status quo.

Is that before or after the Ashley Maddison emails leak?
