Trump administration 2024-2028

Not sure it's getting a lot of headlines but there seems to be sweeping cuts impacting things like safety inspectors/certification programs at places like NIOSH, FDA and other agencies.

Things like NIOSH certification is what we use for a lot of PPE (for things like fire fighting plus normal H&S PPE), and are things where you can't just go with 'trust me bro'.

Is anyone else watching this with concern? Already leary about food imported from the US, so as a consumer will be a hard no now if they aren't doing any food safety inspections in the plants, but for a lot of our equipment means we'll have to go with other independently tested equipment, and may actually drive us to buy a lot more European equipment. Some of the testing requires pretty specific labs and people, so is the kind of thing that would be a long lead to set up to replace, and I don't know that we have some of that in Canada right now as we just piggyback off US standards and the testing that was getting done at independent labs like NIOSH to certify the equipment.

Handling firearms by an alien isn’t illegal as long as the lawful owner has ‘Care and Control’ (I.e. is there to monitor). Furthermore legal resident aliens can buy firearms - so Newsweek is out in left field.

They thought he meant TVA, and they were trying to prune our timeline.
The guy at Cabellas in Boise tried to sell me a handgun. He seemed confused when I told him that it is illegal for me to have gun or gun parts in my possession as a non-resident Alien without the proper paperwork (Hunting licence and ATF Form 6NIA)

Couldn't of happened to a better guy. Santos off to the Crow-Bar-Hotel for seven years.

Well another judge arrested. A pattern?

Only heard of this judge - who else is in the clink? I know a former judge & his wife got dinged accused of having gang folk on their property.

There's a couple other judges who appear to have been arrested. It's developing. If it turns out how it's starting to look, there may be a quiet purge of judges happening. Grain of salt.

6 ICE agents and a DEA agent to arrest a guy in court, working as a cook, who got into a fight with a housemate for playing the music too loud? What a bunch of badasses, clearly she was sheltering a hardened criminal.

Nice of them to do it with an administrative warrant instead of an actual arrest warrant signed by a judge. Supposed to go to the US for work in a month, may cancel the trip and just try and meet with some of the Canadian companies attending the conference afterwards instead.

Looking very ominous for judges in the US. From Pam Bondi, the US Attorney General:

"Attorney General Pam Bondi warned Friday that the arrest of a judge in Wisconsin was only the beginning of Donald Trump’s law enforcement crackdown on the judiciary."
The rest of the story is here:

Soooo if the judiciary is no longer protected, what happens next?

Combine that with the new memo encouraging ignoring the 4th amendment and you have a very scary mess brewing.

That's some scary stuff there.
It is. I’m digging into the alien enemies act stuff. The warrantless entry to residences is pretty open to police judgment is it would be ‘impractical’ to get a warrant. But, more concerningly to me- even a warrant for apprehension including residence entry appears to not be a judicial warrant, but a form AEA-21B, which is issued simply by a supervisor within immigration enforcement. Unless I’m badly missing something, that’s immigration officers giving themselves authority to enter and search a residence. I read the AEA ‘points system’ guidance for determining that someone is Tren de Arabia and thus an ‘alien enemy’, and it is some super flimsy shit. Basically any Venezuelan with criminal or social associations with TdA members could easily hit the eight points needed for ‘reasonable belief’.

Looking at this as a cop, it’s a horrendously overbroad authority. And it’s going to get people killed in botched raids.

Somewhat reminds me of the Writs of Assistance held by some RCMP members up until 1985.

If there was ever a time for Americans to pour into the streets and demand the rule of law, nows the time.
