Trump administration 2024-2028

Between the gigantic Dear Leader portrait hanging outside their DC HQ and their Hitler Jugend meets Norman Rockwell propaganda posters, the DoL appears to be the government department that most embraces American fascism.

They treat our people so badly. So badly. You go to france, I love France, I love the French people, lovely people. And Macron. I get along very well with Macron. But they treat Americans very badly. They charge us more to visit the Louvre. Can you believe that? We protect France. France would be nowhere without us. France would not exist. I talked to Macron, and he begged me to lower tariffs. We need tariffs. But I lowered tariffs, a little bit, to help France, and Europe, really, to help them. But now they charge us more, it's very unfair. So they are going to get more tariffs. That's the way it is.

There isn't much I find redeemable about you as person. But your impression of Trump is on a Shane Gillis level. Well done.

This whole thing is just stupid mouth noises by Trump. He’s pretending he can wave his hand and invalidate such things because most of his base and audience are low sophistication and probably think this is like writing and signing a personal cheque… Without looking at the printed signatures on any cheques they receive from any sort of large business institution, or government.

Trump incessantly floods the zone with bullshit. This is more of the same.

I thought we weren't allowed to denigrate other forum members?

If anyone wants to self identify as among his base and also wants to self identify as part of the ‘most’, that’s words in their mouths, not mine.

ICE partners with Taliban to round up Afghan interpreters

Under the agreement, the Taliban will offer “on-the-ground expertise” in displacing and shattering the lives of former allies.

WASHINGTON — U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced today that it has entered into a “groundbreaking and mutually beneficial security arrangement” with the Taliban to help identify, track, and deport Afghan interpreters who aided American forces during the 20-year war, along with their spouses and children.

“America comes first — not foreigners, allies, or people who put their lives on the line for our country in a faraway land,” said Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons at a press conference alongside DHS Secretary Kristi Noem and Taliban Border and Tribal Affairs Minister Norullah Noori.

Noori called ICE “a natural ally” with “excellent tactics, techniques and procedures when it comes to indiscriminate, unaccountable brute force,” adding that, “we don’t quite understand why they’re covering their faces — are they women?”

Under the agreement, the Taliban will offer “on-the-ground expertise” in displacing and shattering the lives of former interpreters and their families. In exchange, ICE will share “lessons learned” about family separation policies and the treatment of unwanted women and children, which Taliban representatives described as “forward-thinking and inspirational.”

Responses from the international community varied, with Russia lauding the move as “instrumental in the global struggle against people who trust America.”

Is this for real or a joke?

Big businesses are beginning to line up.

With Friday's lawsuit, Costco becomes the latest major company to seek tariff refunds through the courts.

Global cosmetics giant Revlon, eyeglass maker EssilorLuxottica, motorcycle manufacturer Kawasaki, canned foods seller Bumble Bee, Japanese auto supplier Yokohama Tire and many smaller firms have also filed similar suits.

And then they came for our turtles...

Pete Hegseth's use of Canadian character Franklin the turtle in post about boat strikes prompts anger, mockery

Franklin the turtle is a Canadian creation beloved by generations of children, so when U.S. Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth turned him into a bazooka-wielding soldier in a social media post Sunday, many people were alarmed.

Hegseth's post featured a mock cover of a Franklin children's book titled "Franklin Targets Narco Terrorists." The image shows a smiling Franklin wearing a military helmet and vest and an American flag on his arm. He's standing in a helicopter, firing a weapon toward a boat carrying packages and a man holding a gun.

"For your Christmas wish list," he wrote above the post, an apparent attempt to make light of deadly U.S. military strikes on suspected drug-smuggling vessels in the Caribbean Sea and eastern Pacific Ocean.
