Maybe - I expect a backlash against us, with the bridge in Windsor front and center. Lot's of 'Governor Carney' comments, etc. Hopefully the consumption of a super sized Big Mac combo occurs a few times of the weekend as well.

This was his signature policy and it was basically a massive disaster...
Equally embarrassing is all the countries that grovelled to get trade deals with a president who was essentially working outside the laws of his country that would ultimately be shutdown anyway. I can't imagine it looks good for them either in their countries?

By Monday or Tuesday thousands of recovery action lawsuits will be launched at him. Businesses will want their levies paid back. The bright light for him is that prices for goods containing imports should start to wind down.
The one dear to my heart is coffee > that was an insufferable move for which we really should have sent the RCN to shell and burn down his ugly boathouse in Florida.

Most countries didn't have a CUSMA to exempt a bunch of stuff, and confidence in the likelihood of the outcome had to be measured in terms of how long it would take to get there, especially through courts. Congress could have intervened to oppose or to reinforce presidential tariff powers, Democrats being historically the party more favourable to trade protectionism; the only safeguard against them jumping in was their (highly dependable, at least) inclination to oppose anything Trump does.
Hindsight is irrelevant to what they knew at the time.
