Trump administration 2024-2028

doesnt the US just sell to Europe and Europe then gives it to Ukraine?
That is the new model put in place by Trump. There was one authorized release of $300 million in material early in 2025 and there are still long lead-time items that were committed prior to Trump that are still being delivered.

However, while the US is no longer directly providing weapons to Ukraine much of what Europe is providing is purchased from the US as Europe does not have large stocks to draw from or enough of their own production to supply Ukraine.

If as was suggested the US stop supporting Ukraine all together then regardless of the money Europe has they don't have the production capacity to replace what the US was supplying them and they don't produce some of the key munitions that Ukraine needs.

i dont know if id classify that as support. To do otherwise would make the US some version of Switzerland. Selling arms to your allies to supply a country in an existential struggle against your recent preeminent geopolitical adversary seems like the bare minimum.

Yes, according to your chart the EU is currently supplying MORE aid than the US (35.1B Euros vs 30.7B Euros) but I'm not sure I'd call 53% "the bulk"...and losing the 47% that the US supplies definitely would be a MAJOR loss for Ukraine.
The chart you are looking at, and the one @suffolkowner published above, makes it clear that the US has not "supplied" anything in the way of support to Ukraine since Trump took office. The chart is a cumulative one and shows a flat line since then. Sure the US is selling materiel to Europe which then supplies it to Ukraine but that's far and away from "supplying aid."

It puts the US into the role of a common arms dealer and not a financial contributor. I doubt that the US will ever selling arms. Transactions that line the pockets of American companies with foreign cash are his administration's primary business model.

I presume there is still some non-financial support such as ISR support which has operational value. Those could be lost if T ever gets in a snit but hopefully before then Europe can replace those.

Well it didn't take too long for Kent to start talking post-resignation.

Pearl Harbour and the Japanese is not the flex he thinks it is. At least Japan had the "Decisive Battle" strategy that they hoped would follow soon after the attack.
The way the Japanese PM actually visibly reacted - the ‘sit up and back while your soul sucks into itself’ - spoke volumes. It’s like an LLM was asked to output the most boorish thing he could say in the situation and he said it.

If you watch very closely, you can see her eyes go "dead inside" for a brief moment before she regains a bit of her composure.

Japanese media on this will be interesting

Well, other than the fact that he hadn’t been born for 4-1/2 years yet….but that’s just math…
Math ain’t our Donald’s strong suit and I’m not sure if being a bombastic off the cuff non thinker is a strong suit
