Trump administration 2024-2028

Paying at Shell with a Scotia card and CAA saves at least $0.06/litre.
Paying at Esso with my PC Optimum Mastercard gets me $0.10/L in points, so I can afford my $10 bags of random frozen stuff addiction... I recommend trying the Chicken Donuts, they are "interesting".

These are the paraphrased words of a hardcore MAGA I spoke with last week on the subject of reciprocal tariffs and Doug Ford's assertion that we could cut off the electricity to the northern States in response to future escalating tariffs:

"Canadian sovereignty is fragile given the secessionist movements in Quebec and Western Canada. Canadians would be wise to come to terms with the hard fact that Canada is a sovereign nation, for now, because America allows it to be. That time will come to an end if Canada doesn't deal fairly with Mr. Trump."

I wonder how pervasive that belief really is within the current US administration.

How can they get popular support for that if they can’t get popular support to war against one of their main nemesis, a totalitarian Islamic theocracy, for almost 50 years?

so another 1500 yrs of Empire to come?

I guess if you include the rump state that slowly shrunk down to nothing…😉

Another seed of foolishness is planted.

[CBC]Republican lawmaker wants to rename Lake Erie to Lake Pennsylvania

I imagine this close to midterms the Republican congressmen and congresswomen worried about being able to have even a remote chance at winning their races are loving this.

Especially because this guy isn't even running for reelection.

They are deep in their echo-chambers, and are counting on enough voters to be in the same position.

Based on what I have seen online, they may not be wrong... People are weirdly tribal about everything, and not really engaging outside their small circles.

It's essentially all the downsides of a small town, but extended across a continent.

For some in the US, party support is almost like a birthright ('I'm an X, my daddy was an X and so was my grandpappy'). If things get so distasteful, the worst they would do is abstain rather than vote for Y. We have it here too but not to the same extent.

That exists here too. My whole family is Liberal. And they are because we always have been. That's just what we are. Irish, Catholic, Liberals from rural Ontario.

At this point it’s pretty much always a toss up. You could make a decent game show out of identifying whether he actually said something outlandish or if it was made up by a third party.
Imagine playing the drinking game of 'Never have I ever' with him.......

The scary thing is that some of the humorous memes being produced under his banner might be taken up by his "Good Idea Club" and become fact. Such as shutting off the Niagara River because our falls are prettier that their falls and that's unfair. That one has been done before.
