Trump administration 2024-2028

I thought the road to success was finding a need nobody else is filing, and geting 'er done :)

FBI rounds up someone for "conspiring to stage armed robberies so that the purported victims could apply for U.S. immigration visas reserved for crime victims."
US DOJ: "Suburban Chicago Man Sentenced to Two Years in Federal Prison for Staging Robberies To Help Others Fraudulently Apply for Immigration Visas"

Wow. Rare for me to read of a type of criminal scheme that actually genuinely surprises me anymore, but this one did. That’s wild.

Exact details of the letter are unclear, but Vance is believed to have called for nuclear commitments from Iran, including allowing international inspectors to monitor the country’s nuclear programme and determining the fate of Iran’s highly enriched uranium, which Tehran has said will not be shipped abroad.
You mean nuclear facility inspections like…Obama secured with JCPOA? 🤷🏻‍♂️

Meanwhile, on midterms' eve...

Judge Blasts ICE Over ‘Appalling’ Arrest of Dentist

A federal judge in Minnesota ordered immigration authorities to immediately release a Canadian dentist and father who was detained by ICE after an immigration hearing notice was sent to an address that government records indicated was no longer current.

U.S. District Judge Michael J. Davis, a Clinton appointee, ruled Sunday that the arrest and detention of William Virgil Lizardo, a 32-year-old dentist from Mississauga, Ontario, violated the Fourth and Fifth Amendments, finding an "obvious" risk that he had been erroneously deprived of his liberty.

"The hubris of admitting that USCIS made a big mistake, but not even offering any sort of relief is galling, although not surprising," Davis wrote in his November 1 order. He described the facts presented in the case as "appalling."

Interesting costume choice by some of the kids/parents attending the White House Hallowe'en bash this week.

According to Democratic strategist James Carville, the boy in the Russian uniform is White House Deputy Chief of Staff Steve Miller's son.

Edit: Carville says Miller's son is seven years old, but according to the internet his oldest son is only five. Sloppy research on his part or more than one kid dressed as a Russian?

My bad.

From the predictions I've seen going around, for how much of the Senate the Dems could control after today.

The most conservative: 52 seats (to have a Fetterman buffer)
Optimistic: 54 seats
Moonshot: 56 seats

To think 8 months ago there wasn't even a notion of the Dems having a chance at the Senate

Well the only poll that counts is underway right now so we'll see how accurate those predictions were soon enough.

Lots of votes in now with a lot of Dem overperformancew. Betting markets now have a senate win baked in, but ‘by how much?’ is the open question. However a margin of two or three seats seems increasingly likely.

Kansas and South Carolina senate seatsweren’t broadly viewed as ‘in play’ until late in the game; they were supposed to be Republican holds. Both though now seem very much in play, and that doesn’t bode well for Republicans.

Bluxas may happen tonight. Talarico currently as of posting has a 20 point lead.

That seems close to foregone now. But also Abbot may lose Governor which is wild.

Interestingly there may be states in play that just weren’t supposed to be. Nebraska and Louisiana now bear casting the occasional glance at as more votes come in. But they weren’t supposed to be states to watch.

Kornaki is having a field day on NBC. The man can barely believe what is happening either.
