Im applying for Reg NCM, and have a degree in Business. I want to do a Masters in international relations, security, intelligence, war studies, etc., whatever kind of program I can find online. RMC's War Studies would be awesome.

Is UTPNCM available for those who already have a Bachelors?

Alternatively, can an NCM take Masters courses on his own time, for his own purpose, with tuition support? I mean, without being selected for CFR or anything, just for his own sake. I would think a degree in defense studies would be beneficial to relevant to any and all recruits.

It is listed as a benefit, but it doesn't explain whether you have to be selected, or if it is an inherent benefit of the Reg Force.

UTPNCM is not a program to obtain a master's degree.

Yes.

Yes.

Thanks.

Edit - I found some answers in these threads:

I couldn't answer these though:

- Is there a time delay, or other restrictions, between joining the CF and commencing studies?
- Does it depend on your trade? I'm applying for Comm Rsch, NCI Op
- Is tuition fully, or partially, subsidized?

My academic history is good, GPA of 3.3 in the final two years. If that makes any difference.

Yes as per eligibility below:

ELIGIBILITY
4. To qualify for this program, members shall:

  a. be in receipt of pay and allowances except if on Maternity Leave under QR&O 16.26 or Paternal Leave under QR&O 16.27,

  b. have completed Basic Military Qualification (BMQ) training, and

  c. have an approved ILP.

Members subject to forfeiture of pay and allowances are not eligible for reimbursement under this program. Members may not enroll in courses or submit an ILP until BMQ training is successfully completed.

5. Members may access funding through this program for high school and community college diplomas, university degrees, or professional certification. Members who have already completed a Baccalaureate degree will be considered for funding under this program for courses that may be credited toward a Master's degree, or for courses required for professional certification, or for courses at the baccalaureate level to update skills and knowledge when these courses are in the interest of the CF. CDA may approve courses for a second Baccalaureate degree, or for a second Master's degree, or for a PhD, when to do so is deemed to be "in the interests of the CF."

No.

If you are regular Force, fully.  If you are reserve, partially.

Doesn't make a difference.  I had no academic history except for high school 20 years previously and I was accepted.  (edited to clarify:  accepted meaning that I was approved for my ILP.  Sorry to those that got excited that I was crossing over!)

Search further on the site for "ILP" or "Individual Learning Program".  Have your research ready but there is nothing you can do until you have finished basic training.  Once you are past that step (and probably best to be at your first posting), research some more and then talk to your BPSO at the education office who will help you with any further questions you have.
