U.S. Annexing Canada (split fm Liberal Minority thread)

And ~170 million people either failed to vote, or voted for a known agent of chaos, probable agent of Russia, and reflexive autocrat or against a pair of candidates who were neither of those things.

Those 170 million are to blame for everything Trump and his gang inflict on the US, Canada, and the rest of the world. Whatever inane reason they might have for not voting Harris/Walz is meaningless in that context. Let them feel the hatred, disgust, and condemnation they have earned.
You've taken "with us or against us" to new heights of stupidity.

No idea what any of the Trump voters or abstainers think of Canada, but whether with, against, or too lazy or checked out or whatever to care, it's their 170 million individual decisions that brought about this situation.

That is certainly one argument. Recall the last several US administrations have been asking us nicely to do better. This administration is far more action orientated and not prone to "nice".

If Canada fails to look in the mirror and self correct, we are doomed. No amount of crying over mean Americans is going to help.

I can look at almost any political situation and see how the seeds were sown by what people did before the "revolution".

The longer political establishments succeed in fending off a correction back to the centre, the harder the correction is when it comes.

Do you suppose Democrats are partly to blame for arrogantly presuming that either Biden or Harris was a shoe-in?

I suppose this technically could belong here. I couldn't really decide between here, the Trump admin or trade war thread.

We should seriously consider recalling our Ambassador if this is them attempting to try and include redrawing the borders in any trade or tariff negotiations.

In light of current rough relations with the US, a question for those in the know...what elements of NORAD infrastructure in Canada are owned/operated/controlled by the US and what would be required to bring all elements of NORAD within Canadian territory under 100% Canadian control?

Portland and Seattle might agree with that
Unlikely. BC, WA, OR, and CA might be socially sympatico, but patriotism runs deep in the US. Most Democrats like their country and aren't on the same page with everything the loudmouth social activist minority bleats about. That is part of why it's unwise to respond provocatively to Trump's egregious economic gambits and risk pushing potential supporters either into his or a neutral corner.

The root of your question is "what happens when the US decides that NORTHCOM can have the watch, and that NORAD is redundant?".

I've been reading and hearing a lot on the reaction to the lack of support for the UK and the seemingly indifference from the King.

None of it is positive.

The king doesn’t matter.

Americans will not be swayed by the opinion of a foreign king; they rejected that centuries ago, and much more recently they’ve chosen their own.

It's not what the Americans think that I am aiming at. It's the perceived indifference from our crown and mother country on our plight ATM.

My hope is this teaches Canadians we have no allies or friends, we have interests.

His Majesty is King of Canada and the Head of State; he acts on the advice of the Privy Council and the Head of Government (the PM).

If you have not heard anything from Buckingham Palace on where the King stands on this, there is a reason for it.

That said, he has been vocal in other ways, when he can, but far more subtlety. I give you his message to Canadians on the 60th Anniversary of the Canadian Flag:

This is a game of chess for those who are not politically aligned (by design).
