Hi to all,
I received my joining instructions by mail this afternoon and they advise to send our unaccompanied luggage 3 weeks before our arrival; now, is this mandatory, is it only for those taking the plane/train/bus, or does it apply to everyone? because in my case, my parents are dropping me off, so I don't see the point in sending my baggage 3 weeks in advance...by the way, how many bags are we entitled to? I know I know, I'm won't be bringing 16 of them, but just wondering if they have a set limit.

They mention to bring a copy of the security clearance form; I'm pretty sure we already filled one out during the selection process, so is the recruiting centre going to give us a copy at the swearing in ceremony along with all the paperwork?

Thanks,

Any MARS candidates out here? (I know, army forum...but you never know, lots of very good info out here, fantastic work!!)

I must be missing something or I have become a half wit because I don't see that passage anywhere in my joining instructions.  I have both CFB Borden and the CFLRS instructions.

I don't know much baggage one can take to BMQ, it seems like you could get most of the gear on the list they give in one bag, plus you can purchase items at the CANEX.  I am going to try and fit everything in one bag.

As for the paperwork, I am assuming (at this point) that I will receive said paperwork at the same time I am being sworn in.  I am going to call and make sure, and I would advise you to do the same.

If in doubt call the folks in the know!

if you guys have any questions like that try to do a search (it will make the mods happy) or just call the recruiting centre

Haha, thanks Harry.. I know enough to use the search function.  I have seen a many poor fool eviscerated for not using said function.

I actually have no questions, just trying to help the fellow out.

Annex A.
h. packed and sent your unaccompanied baggage (at least three weeks in advance);

Lets use our brains here shall we....

Since you are BRINGING said luggage, it appears NOT to be unaccompanied.

Now... call me crazy, but I think you're safe. And if you're not tell them
I said it was OK and the army can take it out on me.  ;D

Your joining instructions are written so even the greenest recruit can understand them. This is probably the first real set of orders you'll receive. We expect you to be able to decifer them. If you have trouble doing that, don't worry. Until you arrive at St Jean (or wherever) your last point of contact (the Recruiting Centre) are the people to talk to. Ask them what you should do. At least then, you have a real name to attach to, if things go wrong. Here, you'll be able to say "Gee Sarge, the guy on the internet said you'll take care of it". How far do you think that'll carry you?
