Bit of an odd question, but the answers could really help me and others out.

I have somewhat large thighs and tend to chaffe like a bugger when running in hot weather. Can anyone recommend some good non-chaffing underwear?

I'm thinking it might help to suggest good socks too for those that might have blister problems. I don't but I've known some people that blister for no apparent reason.

Boxer briefs. I used to play rugby in high school and I've always had tree trunks for legs. Boxer briefs will save you, if you still manage to get chaffing, try Gold Bond powder, you dump that stuff down your shorts and it feels like you're wearing ice underwear!

Cheers

I have had pretty good luck with the athletic cut boxer briefs as well as compression shorts made by bike, under amour etc.  For your feet, I have always used a pair of running socks layered with my wools or a heavier athletic sock.  Now with the new sock system from clothe the soldier, you might be in luck, link here - http://www.army.gc.ca/Chief_Land_Staff/Clothe_the_soldier/hab/2/262_e.asp

Stretch pants, bicycle shorts and don't laugh, they work, panty hose, will stop you from chaffing. In all cases the material rubs together, not your skin.

your profile says you're from Ottawa. Check out one of the Running Room stores www.runningroom.com

I use some shorts from them that combine the advice of recceguy (bike shorts/lycra) with what looks like loose running shorts on the outside.

For longs runs I also use "BodyGlide".

Let me see if I've got this straight (pardon the pun) recceguy, you're wearing panty hose and using Astroglide  ;D

walked right into that one huh?

the best methods ive come accross are to get running sox. basicly double layered nylon

or wearing a thin nylon sock underneath your normal sox such as the new sock system.

chaffing and blisters can be avoided by using gold bond or your issued foot powder. dr scholls is pretty good. itll solve most of your chaffing problems.

and i dunno about astroglide... but if it worked for freddy mercery i dont see why not!

If you go to running room, you get a %15 discount if you are in the military.

This may have been covered in a post above.

I found the boxer style undies to be the best to reduce chaffing.  Specifically, I mean the
"boxer style made with the same material and design as the typical jockey type, just with
more on the upper leg".  Boxer types tend to be loose around the upper leg but you may
get more protection if the material is tighter/stretchier.

In BMQ, I brought jockies and boxers and switched them around if one type bothered me
more.
