understanding the icons

I have done a search and can't seem to find any info on the site about some of the iconss in the 2nd column. Usually it's the half flag, but lately i've noticed one like http://Army.ca/forums/Themes/default/images/post/icon12.gif  or http://Army.ca/forums/Themes/default/images/post/icon2.gif

I understand the flag is red when there are new posts and grey when there aren't but what do the icons in the 2nd column mean?

Hi NavComm,

Those icons are set by the poster when they post. They're simply used to add some "flavour" to a post. (By using, for example, the Armour/Infantry/etc icon.)

I hope that makes sense.
