I think that enough has been said regarding the issue of
a union in the Forces. Like one person said, the military
is definately not a democratic forum and should not be
treated as such. I have enough problems with smart ***
Troopers and Corporals that think they know everything
about the QRO‘s and their "rights" as soldiers. A union
environment would just compound these problems.
Now on to the second issue at hand. There was mention
of why we as members of the Canadian Forces should help
the Canadian people. Yes, the homeless are still members
of society and are still bonefied Canadian citizens. We
have sworn our allegiance to Queen and country, and that
includes all the people of Canada. What exactly do you think
Operation Recuperation otherwise known as Op Pick-up-sticks
was all about? The second point of how the public may
be a security problem with all the highly secretive material
laying about the armouries is another laughing matter.
Never in my time in the Forces have I inadvertantly
stumbled upon an item of sensitive matter. I may have
once seen a Protected B document, but I am cleared for
at least that. I don‘t think there are any worries for
operational security at our armouries. I, for one, would
be proud to help out the less fortunate. Being in the Forces
does not necessarily mean that we are cold *******s, I take
great exception to that.
