I've been thinking about getting some documents together and sending the a university to see if they would take various course reports in and seeing if they would count to some sort of degree, and then attempt to get a degree of some sort via correspondence.  Has anyone gone through this and if so can you recommend a credible institution, a friend had recommended the U of W.

Oh, I'm retired from the CF, so all the options that I didn't jump on when I was in aren't avail (take note young ones)

There is a list out there (damned if I can find it right now) that lists certain military courses and the university equivalencies.

Language courses of a certain level granted so many Arts/Lang credits, POET got you so many Jr Sci credits, etc.

Many of the courses I had never heard of before. I thought it was on the RMC/CDA website somewhere, but I can't find it.

If you are looking to take a correspondence course, and get credit for mil courses, RMC may be your best bet. Getting a PLAR done for the 3-year BMASc is fairly simplistic and they've already done equivalencies for every course out there.

U of W and Athabasca are also mil friendly when it comes to PLARs, but not quite to the same extent.

I'll keep looking for that list and post if I can find it.

When you say UofW, do you mean Waterloo, or Winnipeg? If Winnipeg, then perhaps UofM is a better choice as they've been involved with the CF for well on 20 years now. Unless you want your training in french, then Winnipeg is better.

Did mine through University of Manitoba. Received 30 credits for CF courses; translated to a full year toward the degree program. As noted above, they have much experience. All the best, Dan.

here is the website you're looking for. The program you're interested in is MCTAP search. It lists civilian academic and professional institution’s equivalencies for military training and education. Simply type in your MOC code and you'll see what you're eligible for (note: MOC Code, not MOSID)

Just a quick note that most Universities want you to have completed 50% of your credit hours from them in order to be granted a degree. However, there may be some special circumstances in which they may not require you to have 50%.
