untrained tasking

I was going to take my Res. Sig Op QL3, but i'm just finishing high school.  The course start date is the 26th of June, give or take a day or 2...I am not available until at least the 29th.  Is it possible to take a tasking at comm res school shilo that summer at a later date if i am only basic trained, and take the QL3 the following year?

If you are in Shilo, what do you propose they do with you for the summer?

If you are untrained, then you are not of much use without constant supervision.... which would suggest that it would be just as easy for them to do the work themselves... which would suggest that they would be employing you strictly out of the kindness of their heart...

You can ask BUT I wouldn't get my hopes up.

Is it because of exams that you are not available until later?  If so, you can also talk to your teachers about this.  Possibly, with a note from your unit stating the day you are required, you can write your exams early.

The only untrained Privates I've seen on taskings at either school (Shilo and Kingston) as far as Comm Res, was people who were waiting for their 3's to start.

I dunno about Shilo for sure. I know Comm Res has a ***** of a time trying to fill positions at either school, even going as far as stating that they won't approve summer Class B's elsewhere before Comm Res positions are filled.

But I'm assuming that the preference is to get you trades qualified.

There are, IIRC, a couple of courses that start after June 26th, ask your Training/Ops staff about getting onto a later course.

Or, as Mich stated, talk to your school. A letter from your CO also wouldn't hurt in that aspect.

First, the CRITCP (big list of Comm Res courses and when they start) is currently at version 2 for the current training year.  Last year it went up to version 7 before the courses started.  Changes are almost certainly going to happen between now and Jun.  That isn't to say that it's impossible that a serial will be starting on 26 Jun, but I wouldn't count on it.

Second, do you really think that this is the sort of question you need the internet to find an answer for?  You do have a MCpl who looks after you, right?  Go find that guy and talk to him.

C'mon where have you been ? Everyone knows that going through your CoC is obsolete.  And even if he got an answer from his MCpl he will be back here to ask if its true.  The kid just skipped a step.

My beleif that people should seek information from their CoC and not run to the internet every time they get told something is eroding the CoC ????
