Are you looking specifically for a personal kit list, recommended section kit, tactics, or problems encountered in the past? Also, are you focusing on Canadian lessons learned only or also other countries?

It comes down to the various types of equipment we use that can acquire the IR/thermal signature. The batteries can be picked up by more equipment (or less finely-tuned equipment) at greater ranges...making them better for ID'ing troops being supported.
Of course, it could also be IR glowsticks are difficult to acquire in certain units (or the QM opens the box, breaks & shakes, sees no change, so throws out the whole lot an bitches about quality control ;D )
