Why should they? Proponents of the ideas of western civilization don't dismiss the pan-civilizational bases from which they are drawn. They just want those ideas to be emphasized and to continue to advance along a liberal vector. Those ideas have largely been secularized and no longer require reasoning from a starting point of Christianity, but it's a more important part of the mix than any other religion, and, crucially, is far from hostile to liberalism and theories of human rights centred on the primacy of the individual. There are other countries that can choose to emphasize other civilizational ideas (and perhaps the religions which foster them) if they want. See how they compare in 10, 20, 50, 100 years.

At $120/book retail, I sure home DoW gets a good deal (and Pete gets a good cut).

I'm sure the book will fairly treat the advances of science, math, etc. in the Middle East when Western Europe were ploughing fields with sticks.
