No offence to anyone in the US Navy who might be here, but...

SORRY FOR THE HEADLINE TYPO EARLIER!

um  CNN is saying

A U.S. submarine collides with a Japanese merchant vessel, a U.S. Navy official tells CNN, adding there were no injuries but there was damage.

merchant vessel.. not Japanese sub

edit to answer MG

There isn't.. its in a small red bar across the top of CNN.. that's all there is for the moment.

When I said "Here we go again", I was also referring to the previous incident back in 2001 when another USN sub surfaced, sinking another Japanese merchant ship just off Hawaii. If I remember correctly, the sub's CO resigned in great remorse and even wrote a book about it.

Doesnt sound good for the skipper. The USN normally relieves the commander.

The skipper has now explained what caused the accident. ;D

Speed of tanker sucked sub up to surface
