One thing which seems to be missed is the US has demonstrated the capability to design and build a highly advanced device (6th generation fighter) in a single year. While serial production obviously takes longer, I suspect those sorts of methodologies could be in play for all the services and ramp down the deployment time from the "decades" the article predicts to just a few years.

As T6 notes, the US military needs a lot "more" things, but certainly cannot get them at the current pace of acquisition. Since the Frigate program is just starting, equipping every second or third hull as a hypersonic missile carrier may provide a quick stopgap.
