I would like to have Vibram Sierra soles put on to a pair of my Mk IIIs, but am having a little trouble. I went to Vibram’s website and found a list of authorized repair shops who are supposed to be able to put Vibram soles on boots. I went to or called most of these shops and only found a couple who could do it, except for one problem: they only have one model of Vibram soles for boots, and it isn’t the right one.

Does anyone know where in Calgary or Edmonton or the surrounding areas I can get the Vibram Sierra sole put on my boot with some kind of a soft mid-sole? Has anyone from these areas actually had it done? I assume that if I cant find a place in Calgary to do it there ought to be a place in Edmonton that does it, given the Base and all.  :cdn:

To summarize. Welcome to Army.ca, start reading.

's a dude in St. Albert, but I can't think of the name to save m' damn life. Gimme a minute or two.

Perhaps the sole you have in mind is obsolete.

Have you tried going to an Orthopedic Specialist and find out where they recommend getting Vibram soles?

The Vibram Sierra sole is not obsolete at all; it is the Vibram sole most used on military type boots including the Danner Acadia. The sole that the shoe repair places in Calgary seem to stock it the Vibram Montagna, which is not a sole meant for military use. Also the places I have gone to don’t seem to know anything about putting on a mid-sole. This is why I am hoping to find someone who has had it done or who knows for sure where it can be done, so as to avoid the hassle.  :cdn:

Well, plunking 'Vibram' into the SEARCH function brought up two pages of topics with discussion on them.  Perhaps in there somewhere.

Thanks George Wallace, I tried that method before I made my post. While there seems to be lots of useful information on these forums concerning Vibram soles, there was nothing that specifically answered my question; though there seems to be lots of places in Ontario that do Vibram soles. To bad I’m so far away. :)      :cdn:

I can't remember the name of the place in St. Albert. Maybe try looking through the phone book and making some phone calls. That is, if you're in/near Edmonton.

This is where I had mine done.  Downtown St Albert, just off of Perron Street.  PM me if you want directions.

If you are in Calgary most shoe repair stores will do them. I had mine done at a place called Tony's shoe repair in nw calgary (crowfoot I believe) they should be in the book. Cost me $60 for a pair of jungle boots had them for about 4 years, no problems.

I'm a dumbass. Thanks Gunner. That was buggin' the crap out of me (and by default, 9r).

Hey everyone, thanks for all your help! I took my boots to "Tony's" today and I am supposed to pick them up at the end of the week. For future reference to anyone who may care: I also checked out Alpine Shoe Service but they wanted to charge me $120 whereas Tony's is charging me $80. This price includes the Vibram Sierra soles, a soft mid-sole and installation.  :cdn:
