Hello everyone,

Im 17 and enrolling into reserves through CFRC Toronto however the recruiting process seems inactive. Heres the situation:
I've completed my CFAT and qualified in a majority of the occupations and the officer recommended me to try ROTP, that was in December when I did my CFAT now its close to April and I called February and still haven't received a date for my PT, Medical and Interview I was hoping to attend training in summer. Could there be any delays or other possible explanations? The CFRC seems understaffed and I was hoping to finish training in summer so i can finish high school then possibly enroll in RMC with the pretext of being in the reserves.I read a lot of posts from current and past recruiters demanding patience, but close to 4 months of no reply?

First of all, using your Svc # as your user name is probably not the best idea.

Secondly, in case you've missed it, there's been some 'complications' recently with regards to the Army reserves in Toronto. It's been in the news and all over this website. Staffing in Toronto has nothing to do with the situation you find yourself in.

Due to factors beyond the control of the RC, processing for Reserves was temporarily ceased. We are currently in the process of waiting to find out how many people each Reserve unit is going to be authorized to hire in the new year (Which starts in April) before we start contacting people.

Next, I am a little unclear as to your plan ... you intend to attend RMC as a Reservist? (I know it's possible, I'm just checking to ensure your intentions because there MAY be better options for you and this is an unusual way of going about things for a 17 year old ... usually Reservists who wish to attend RMC tend to be older people intending to do postgraduate studies in Military Strategy or some such thing)

Lastly, going on to a public website and complaingin about the service you're receiving, rather than contacting the RC itself, ESPECIALLY since you have used such an easily traceable way of finding out who you are, is probably NOT the best way to ensure prompt service and a positive report from the Military Career Counsellor when he researches you online prior to conducting your job interview (because yes, we DO check people's online activities as part of the background check)

Just some things to think about ... talk to you in April.

Hello everyone.

I'm currently in the process of applying into the reserves, and I have one question to ask that i haven't found answered in the posts generated by the search function.I've read a guide from a very kind user Mr"Otis" with regards of contacting your local CFRC, I've called 3 weeks ago, left a message on details, Service number etc according to the guide. I wrote e-mails earlier to the military career counselor that briefed me on the CFAT, I assume this person is somewhat responsible for my application? So should I directly e-mail him or call him. I've drafted an e-mail ready to be sent anytime. I've got another contact which is the person who paid me for my travelling expenses when I did my CFAT. Logically I should contact the Counselor right? Another thing is that I don't like to frequently send e-mails and call to make myself look like a worry-wort and disrupt the operations of the CFRC. I've also thought about clarifying matters in person, but that would probably be too extreme perhaps. One last thing is that, if the rank of the counselor is out dated for ex. PO 4 Class Smith(no worries fake name) I contacted could have been promoted to PO 3 Class. Would counselors mind?

Any sincere advice is wanted before I make my next move so I don't cause any nuisance or harm to others and myself.

I can provide more details on my situation if you want.

I'm constantly ready for the next move so assume your are the counselor and tell me what you expect of a "candidate" for the Canadian Forces

Thank you in advance :D
