Hi, I sent my application in near the start of January and after a lot of waiting they set me up for taking a CFAT on the 4th of march. I finished my CFAT test on and after I finished the test he told me that they were waiting on Ottawa to respond about a criminal check thing ( he wasn't very specific)  When I was 15 I got caught shiplifting and got alternate measures, and after that I got a mischief charge, but was later acquitted of all charges.  I have no other charges pending or anything like that.  He also said he cant schedule me for any more tests until Ottawa responded ( which he said might take a week to a month) and I was hoping to get in for this summer for BMQ and SQ, but if this takes a month before I can even schedule anymore tests, then I am getting concerned about still getting in for this summer and having to wait yet another year.  That is my situation and I need to know if there is anything I can do to speed this up.  I have already tried going to the police station and asking for a form that says I have no charges pending, but because of the young offenders act they cant give that to me as I am 17 years of age. Any advice would be appreciated as I don't want to have to wait another year.

First off, proof what you are writing as this was a hard read to say the least.

Second, you have to be patient and allow the security process to take its course. All the required information should of already been submitted and anything you do at this point won't change the time it takes to be completed.

Lastly, very similar questions have been asked and answered multiple times in these forums. Use the search function and you will find many scenarios very similar to yours.

Just to let you know im going through the recruiting process right now as well and my security check took 3-4 weeks and i have no trouble with the law. the bottom line is its just the process that you have to go through and there is no way to speed it up but after your security check comes back everything will go real quick. so dont worry about it to much yet.

Exactly!  If you SEARCH, you will find the info you are looking for and much more that you weren't yet looking for.
