Hello everyone out there,

I am relatively new to this informative site, I am hoping someone out there might be able to give me some insight on my issue.  I wish to be recruited into the Armed Forces, but I have two problems in that I am working hard to alleviate.  First: I do have a criminal record of 2 minor offences, I have been a citizen in good standing the last 5 years and am waiting patiently for my legibility for pardon so I can finally move on with my life.  Second: I have fines outstanding that I am trying hard to pay off.

For many years since I was a teen I wanted to recruit into the Armed Forces, however my rebellious nature took over any rational reasoning cuing this current dilemma you see above.  I have many friends in the Armed Forces already telling me to go for it, I have nothing to lose by trying and I know they are right.  Is there any one out there than offer me advice on how to handle the situation of my past when I go to get recruited, knowing there is a good chance I'll be rejected?  Thank you to everyone who responds, good luck to you all, may God Bless.

Well, I will attempt to take a stab at this;

I just went through the whole recruiting process and am now currently waiting to be sworn in. I found the key thing throughout this process is to TALK TO RECRUITERS. They know the answers for most questions and can help you when you need it. However, one thing that I have learned throughout this ordeal is that every person has their own unique situation and the recruiters realize this too, so they will take many different factors into play. The fact that you have been good for a few years works into your benefit, as does realizing you have made mistakes.
Like I said, and like many others will tell you, be honest, and talk to a recruiter. They will be able to help you out more I will, infact, more than most people on this site (no offence to anyone, It's their job :) )

Good luck to you.

No truer words could be said, and I thank you for them.  By the end of the week I shall head down to the RC for a better opinion, mainly I was seeking to see if anyone has been in my unique position.  Best of luck to you as well, your advice has been helpful.

Ciao
